I do not do the service myself. I do not wrench on any kind of vehicle, I have them serviced or fixed by trained, licensed & insured mechanics/shops. I am not a mechanic nor do I want to start learning now! With that being said, I'm sure that the dealer in Canton, MI not only did the initial break in, but at least 1 actual service, if not 2 as well as the BMW Dealer in Milwaukee, WI doing 1 as well. I had an appointment w/ the BMW Dealer just outside of Cleveland, OH to do the service that is due now, but w/ weather & time restraints I didn't have time to stop, I had to get back home. I have all of the stamps from the dealers in the owners manual showing proof of service. To answer your original question about cost, I have no idea. I believe they were all pretty much the same. I'm sure that if you call your local BMW Dealer they would answer any inquiries you may have regarded pricing & scheduling. If I had to guess, I would say anywhere from $150-$300. But that's strictly a guess. Cheers

Thanks, I was wondering how much a 6 cylinder service would be. They don't look like much fun to do, at least as far as a valve adjustment is concerned, don't know if I would do one myself. I would rather ride a loaner for a day.

I received a letter in the mail yesterday from BMW informing me of a recall on the K1600GT/L. If I have time to get in before it sells I'll also have the service performed!

I'm definitely out of long distance riding/touring. I might be done w/ motorcycles altogether. I'm undecided. I've always wanted a new S3, but before I buy one I'd see if somebody would trade me for one. Who knows, maybe a S3 would be the bike to keep me interested in riding, at least day trips. If not, I'd sell it too. Thanks.

I really wasn't expecting too much action here or on ST.Net so I posted on ADV a couple of days ago & my email box was blowing up constantly. I had 6 people say they wanted to check on shipping options & rates & call me back on Monday. I took the people in order of the messages I received. The 1st dibs guy is from Connecticut & is wiring me the money tomorrow. If that falls through, the 2nd dibs guy is from Colorado & said he will also wire me the money ASAP. The 3rd dibs guy is from Chicago & says he will drive out w/ cash if the first two peeps fail to come through. The 4th guy is from Phoenix & said he would wire the money if the first three deals fall through. And so on to 6. It's kind of weird because usually people offer you less than what you're asking but in this case they all offered me more! The guy from Chicago was the highest offer though, but I only thought it was fair to treat it as first come first serve. Cheers

Finally!!! The shipping company is supposed to be at my shop between 11:00am & noon tomorrow to pick it up! I thought it was never going to leave my possession... I guess that I better tell it my goodbyes! I'll be seeing it again during the last weekend in July at the MEME rally in Maine!

Dunno... the perspective buyer only has 3 hours 56 minutes to show up w/ the cash & I still haven't heard from him so I have no idea what his plans are. I tried contacting him VIA phone the other day but he didn't answer or respond to my message. My guess is that he got cold feet. Oh well. If he's not at the bikes location by midnight tonight then I'm going to keep it. Cheers
