It's an airfoil even sitting still.  People amaze me.  There is a small airport next to the city garage and every plane there is tied down at all times.  I would have thought that was common sense, then I remember it's not that common anymore....

The wind can be fun. I have achieved negative ground speed before flying into very strong headwinds in a light plane.

I remember having to sit in line with my sailplane, spoilers engaged, to keep it from sailing away while waiting for my turn with the towplane.

Very real, and, for me at that moment, a little scary.

Pretty skillfull pilotage, and a good lesson.

I really wanted to try landing at a different airport so I could attempt to land and stop on the numbers, but my instructor didn't like that idea.

WTF, it looks like the control yoke was lock in the aft position. The guy probably wrapped his seat belt around it and called it good. And no tie down at all? He should have just given that thing to me.
