The new Portland-Yarmouth Ferry

Anyone planning a Nova Scotia trip this summer?  The Ferry is back!

Bet that'll give Yarmouth a shot in the arm.  Wonder how long the service will last though.

I thought Cablebandit took a ferry from Bar Harbor to Yarmouth, is that still running or is the Portland to Yarmouth ferry replacing it?  The Bar Harbor ferry isn't a CAT and it would be an overnight trip.  Is the CAT quicker?  I remember the old CAT when we took a 1 week hiking trip in Acadia years ago and was told it was a 4 hour trip to Yarmouth from Bar Harbor. 

Regardless, I'm happy to see more options!

The Bar Harbour to Yarmouth crossing was abandoned a few years ago, in '09 I believe. Nova Star ran a ferry from Portland to Yarmouth between 2014 and 2015. I read Nova Scotia pulled the plug as it was under performing and too expensive.
We did use it last year, from Yarmouth to Portland. It was a long day. The trip took 11 hours plus boarding. The new CAT is expected to do in 4.5 hours

Jeets and I took the NovaStar.  One day ride to Maine from PA, sleep on the ferry, wake up in Yarmouth.
