Big Upgrades for Ural in 2014

Never owned one and probably never will; will probably always slightly regret not having owned one.

Maybe some year I'll buy a used one.  If I were single I would definitely pick one up...man, what a machine it would be for a single guy.

I know that efi will help with emissions standards but will the fuelling "improvements" keep the Ural loyal away?  Isn't one of the benifits of owning a Ural the ease and simplicity of maintenance?

Matt, so far I've not seen any grumbling of "progress" over on Soviet Steeds (dot) com.   ;D   

But, I would think that disc brakes and EFI make maintenance easier, not more difficult.

I never thought of it before, but I believe you are spot on.  Everyone loves going for a ride on the rig.

Ok, good.  My thoughts were on the line of a world traveller and having issues outside of civilization.  Many RTW guys want carbeurators and not efi.

I don't think I've seen any RTW ride reports done on a Ural. 

I think carbs are for old farts not willing to move on with the times.  Moderm EFI is damn near bulletproof.

For years I have said if I split up with my wife, I would buy one of those, get an aviator hat and goggles made for a dog passenger, then make a map of nursing and massage therapy colleges across North America and just ride around to them, asking for directions and getting laid.

Now that they make them with all disc brakes and EFI...well, it's not making it any less tempting.

A dog truly is the best chick magnet ever.  Our one K-9 guy always takes the Malinois over to the College Campus to run him and the girls go bat shit crazy to pet the dog.
