I've got invites out to about 20 people. I hope it's firm-enough.

Group rates are available under "Canaan Spring Meet" for the weekend of 5/13 - 5/15.

I just attempted booking a room using the instructions above (also updated first post) and received an error message.  I'll check with the lodge to see if my reservation went through and inform them of the error.

When trying to make the reservation it looked like cancellation would be OK for 72 hours out, 1 day penalty if cancelled later.  Did you see something different?

So I'm clear...

To be very clear, Canaan Valley is pretty antiquated in how they do these things, and it's run by the state... but it's a great location and a beautiful area and resort. I'm happy putting up with the slightly higher price (let's be honest, some of the $50/night places have been a little terrifying) and the quirks.

I'm all in on this trip! I can't explain how much I need a proper and actual road trip for a few days.

I'll be there. It's been a long time since I've ridden with you guys. Peter is coming down from Canada in spite of the exchange rate. That really makes it a good time to travel up there.

BTW I am now the other side of 70. Do I need to change my license plate?

Way I see it, the tag is accurate; you're still nearly 70.   

That was my intention. Just thought I'd bring it up here since the phrase "nearly 70" originated with this group in Clearfield some years ago. A stray comment made in a bar about older riders prompted Gasgauge to say "Careful cause Dave is nearly 70." I promptly changed my handle and the plate a few years later.

Fair enough.  But, just know we're going to push for you to change it to NRLY 80 when the time is right.   

Well, let's treat 70 (and its multiples) like an epoch. 0, 70, 140, etc...

In that vein, everything from 36-105 is "nearly seventy", so after Dave turns 106, then we can push for "Nearly 140".

I have these dreams. here's a couple.

Boyer Station is a good 50-60 miles from Davis.

We both took Thursday off to ride down, take the long way. Anywhere within a half-day's ride with curvy roads will suffice. I think maybe I'll set the GPS for somewhere mid-southern WV and just go there on Thursday and stop whenever/where ever, then make our way to Canaan Friday lunchish.

You could head to Lewisburg via BRP, 42, 311, etc. Then it's a nice wander north up 219 plus whatever ever suits you to get to CVR.

All the usual suspects between Canaan Valley/Blackwater Falls and Morgantown. Basically the Blackwater 400 we attempted to do years ago.
