Got home yesterday from an epic 11 day road trip, from Bonney Lake through Oregon, Idaho, Utah, Zion and Bryce canyon to some friends in Flagstaff, out to the Grand Canyon, then Las Vegas, up the Extraterrestrial Highway, lunch at the Little Aleinn, signed the Black Mailbox at Area 51, out to Lake Tahoe, through the giant sequoias and redwoods to Eureka, up the coast to Newport, then back home.
Had a great time even though we drove the Sonata. We went from sea level to around 9000 feet and 115 degrees in some places, 85 mph crossing the desert and still got 35 mpg.
It would have been a fun ride on the bike but these days 3600 miles at a time would be hard and the heat would have been miserable. We were thinking a motorhome and trailer for the bike would be fun at some point (I know it's sacrilege, but age and injuries catch up after a while).
