Set up the new bird feeder I made, mowed, cut down and chopped up an old dead hemlock. Then my sister stopped and we shot the breeze for a good while. I don't get to see her enough. Then took delivery of a new 50 pint dehumidifier, set it up to keep the musty away in the basement.
Have one in the shop that I use intermittently. Left it running for a couple of days, earlier this week, and had a nearly-full tank to dump when I remembered it. Sadly it swaps humidity for heat.
That's how they work. Depending on temperature, you get a 2-5% change in relative humidity for every 1-2 degree Fahrenheit change. The dehumidifier runs air through a chiller to condense moisture out, and then reheats it - ostensibly to room temperature - to repeat the cycle and pull more water out of the environment. Uses a fair amount of electricity in the process.
Had to turn our dehumidifier on yesterday after returning from 3 weeks in Italy. The basement was dank, prolly cause the AC didn't run while we were gone. I set it to run only for 2 hours late night if it's over 80 F; it was ~77F when we walked in yesterday.
Also plugged my bike into the battery tender, but I suppose that belongs in a different thread. Feel the need to get out & ride.
