Spent the past week going through my naration-based MP3 files and crunching them down. In/on vehicles, the 3Gb files are just wasting space. One example crunched down to 250mb. It was a PITA when I later learned that Audacity was truncating longer files with some kind of sample limit so I had to start over. Wavepad is harder to edit out segments (because the graph of the sounds is harder to navigate) but it's much better and quicker at switching to mono, 22050 sample rates, and 80bps (from stereo, 41000-ish, 192).

Wahls makes a great trimmer (Arco SE). Battery (2 in the kit) last a really long time. My daughter found these and recommended them. I cleaned them up once my long-haired cat passed and now use them as people trimmers. I'm confident that I've had them for at least 5 years (and maybe 10). My daughter has been using hers for some years longer.

I now have two electric record cleaners. The vacuum one works great but it's one record, one side at a time and takes forever. I now have an ultrasonic cleaner. Zipping through those old vinyls and cleans a treat.

Helped out the oldest son with some concrete work. 14 bags of redi-mix and some trowel work, he now has a sidewalk for his back porch again. It's been a good long while since I done this crap and now I remember why.

Worked in my hideous super late planting garden trying to salvage something. Itt was so wet and cold this spring I am still not done planting. I'm doing what is basically a fall planting of beans,melons,cukes and peppers. Fuck I'm glad it's just a small vegetable garden and not paying the bills.

I took the day off with my wife since it was her birthday. We went and picked up her wedding ring, to which we had added a few more diamonds and had redone in yellow gold instead of white gold. Then we went for a nice drive around Hood Canal, stopping in Poulsbo for a nice lunch and wander around.

All in all a pretty fun day.

Spent the past week re-sampling all my audiobooks. The process is tedious and multi-step but when done the typical result is along the lines of a 3gb file being about 500mb when done. The biggest thing is to make them mono (from stereo) change the sampling down to 22k and 80Kbps. Since it's all voice narration, any "loss" doesn't affect listen-ability.

Funny. I've been informed I have that same task this weekend since it's supposed to be 8000 degrees kelvin outside at my place. Ours will probably have the intent of looking like a little log cabin. It will probably turn out looking like a crooked box w/ a hole in it. Good luck w/ yours.

We always trimmed the dog's nails with a dremel and a sanding drum. No muss, no fuss. Makes for a nice smooth nail as well and you can sneak up on the quick with no fear of nicking it.

Today saw more packing for the move to Milwaukee, and we received the list of repair demands from our buyers. Hopefully this will be resolved soon. It's really too late to back out of moving our stuff. By this time next week, I should be reunited with my Little Red Ninja!

Slightly Moto... I installed an Add-a-Leaf kit into the rear spring packs of my 20yr old F150. Truck rode level, with trailer it squatted just a tiny bit. The extra leaf helped stiffen up the 20yr old springs fairly well for a grand total outlay of $70. Also replaced the worn away spring isolater pads while I was in there, no more squeak from the ass end. Worth it even if I feel like I've been beating my knee with an air hammer... it's hell getting old.

Waaaay more productive than I...

I collect certain vintage sunglasses, some of which have seen better days, and need restoration.
These polarized Revo Tiburons are beautiful, but someone used them as a bum cushion, and bent the Beejeebus outta them.
I spent a solid hour re-aligning them to fit my somewhat non-symmetrical face, and offset ears. Not as easy as it sounds...

I cut the lawn for the last time! Now that we've finally sold the Olde Heap and the movers are loading the van on Tuesday, my bro-in-law who wanted to buy my riding lawn mower will be picking it up this afternoon. So I got out early and cut the grass about a inch lower than normal. The closing isn't for another two weeks, and I figure this will keep the grass from growing way too high by the time the new owners move in.

As we're moving to a condo where the lawn and driveways are taken care of by someone who isn't me (possibly the best part of the adventure), this may be the last time in my life to use a lawn mower. Yea!

Yesterday, did a hardhat tour of the new gun range going live in November of this year. Schmancy! Lots of events and they are already getting calls from tourist (from within the US and from elsewhere) who want info on nearby accommodations. I've been dealing with a lack of air conditioning in the van this summer because we really haven't needed it. Honestly, I've put under 6k miles on it in the past year. Got fed up, paid for a recharge bottle of Freon from AutoZone and followed the directions a couple weeks ago. It helped slightly, but it wasn't getting icy cold. The compressor was going on and off, so it wasn't a serious issue for sure. I threw a set of real refrigerant gauges on it today and added another partial can of Freon. Damn, that was it! Me 'n da mutts are gonna be happy cool campers going out east now.
