I'm heading to Reno on Friday to check out a 2007 Tiger 1050 that's being offered by a friend of mine. He's a Ducati-nista, and just bought a new/used Multistrada to go with his 919. So he's selling the Tiger. Only 22K miles, side cases, heated grips, 2 aux ports, tank bag, and a Triumph performance exhaust. I know this bike well since his dad rode it during our Utah trip a couple of years ago. He's letting it go for only $5000.

I've been wanting to trade in the FJR anyways for something that I can take off the pavement now and then. This should do nicely.

Once you head down that path there is no turning back (and a lot of being lost) I think you will like it!!

Curious... what about the Tiger 1050 with street tires is more off-road capable than a b'zillion other bikes on the road?

mostly just clearance issues and a few extra inches of travel. plus you change the tires to some K60's or TKC 80's and away you go..

Well...Maybe I should have said I've been wanting something more along an adventure-styled bike. By off-pavement, I'm referring to the maintained Forest Service and BLM service roads around here. I've ridden the FJR down many such roads with no issues.

I guess I just want something different and this particular Tiger seems to fit the bill. I went through the same thing when I moved from a V-Twin cruiser to the FJR. I guess I can't stick the same bike for more than 4 or 5 years.

Drives the wife nuts.

I took my FJR places no man should ever go on a bike... I don't recommend it. Too much torque and too heavy, but damn, it was fun now and then.

I traded my '08 FJR in on a '13 Tiger roadie. Don't regret it for a second. FJR was heavy and I didn't use it for its true intention. I love the Tiger. Don't look back!

Once you start down this path you will never go back! I know it happened to me I love my 1050. The motor is intoxicating to say the lest. I have a triumph full race exhaust, that is all yours. if you don't like the one that's on it.

Congrats on the impending purchase. There are times that I miss my Tiger 1050.

That said, see if it's using any oil between changes (mine did), and the condition of the rear shock (mine went South by that mileage).

I traded my 06 FJR for a Tiger 1050. Tiger was an excellent bike. Oh, yes, I'm riding a 2014 FJR now. visitors can't see pics , please register or login
Long story and there is a 1200GS in there between the Tiger and new FJR. If you can, compare the two to yourself as objectively as you can. They are totally different bikes.

Thanks for the offer, but this one sounds just lovely.

Pictures from the stable now that it's home. Just added it to the insurance policy today and the inspection paperwork is getting signed this week.
