The Detroit area is about to set a record for extreme cold duration. The old record was 11 days. We're going to easily snap that. Funny part is, I remember days on the flight line at Selfridge ANGB where we just dealt with it. Our low temp safety limit was -40* windchill and then we cleared the line of people and planes. We had one winter where that occurred for over a week straight. Did I mention that we didn't clear the line until the temperatures got to that level? Yeah, several someones were still out there towing planes after the limit was reached.

With temperatures in the teens — or lower — forecast for the rest of the week, the Detroit area could soon break a record for the most consecutive days under 20 degrees.

The cold snap is expected to last through Saturday, meaning the old record of 11 consecutive days below 20 degrees, set in 1936 and tied in 1979, is on track to be broken.

OK. I'll not bother whining about our -20 wind chills over here. But we're not used to this crap.

Banked the stove at 10:30 and cranked (ok slid... I quietly slid) the damper open. Got up at 3 and stuffed 4 more logs in cuz it was still a bit chilly. Woke up at 5 to a balmy 80 degrees in the kitchen.

Today - 3 on the ground and still coming

A big thank you to the unknown neighbor who cleared my driveway unbeknownst to me. I looked out last night and it was done. Unfortunately, it's all covered again this morning.

Guess I'll gear up and head out after this cup of coffee and git 'er dun.

Update, more snow on Friday night. Called the dealer, to reschedule
"We weren't really expecting you today"

Rescheduled for this coming Sat. The forecast for the week is snow starting tomorrow until next Sunday. Over 30cm in total. Looks like its gonna be a late start to the season. Stupid winter, we didn't get a drop of snow between the start of Feb and the end of March.
