The unnamed 38-year-old man's Monday morning commute was interrupted when police pulled him over for driving erratically with two flat tires, and they were surprised to find him holding the pliers instead of a wheel. He was arrested and charged with many offenses, including driving without a license in an unregistered vehicle, uninsured while under the influence of illegal drugs and more. Police also said they believe he was involved in a hit-and-run accident.

A masked woman thought to be carrying an imitation pistol caused a major disturbance in a busy shopping street after climbing up scaffolding, apparently to sunbathe.

Police officers spent three hours trying to coax the woman down from the four-storey Garnet House in St George's Road, Brighton yesterday.

Eye witnesses told how the woman was acting strangely while on the scaffolding and removed her clothes and put a dead seagull on her head.

Eventually officers detained a woman and got her into police van at about 1pm yesterday - more than two hours after they were called to the street.

She was arrested on suspicion of being in possession of an imitation firearm and public order offences.

Those in St George's Road at the time described how up to seven police cars, a police van and two fire engines attended the scene.

There was a subsequent road closure causing major disruptions for a number of local businesses in the street.

Steven Ashwood, owner of St James Furnishing carpet shop in St George's Road, said: “The woman climbed up the scaffolding and started sunbathing on the top.

Apparently there are some issues with the boy's safety in the home. At least thats what they said on the news today.


We thought we had lost our youngest, that she had wandered out of the house late one night in the dark. Maybe 3 or 4 years old?

Turns out she had silently passed by us in the hallway while we were in the bathroom, and crawled up into our King-Sized bed and absolutely disappeared deep in all the pillows and heavy comforters. Somehow she pulled the blankets right up over her head and went to sleep, and there wasn't a wrinkle nor a bump to show that she was in there. Looked like the bed was just made perfectly.

We had cops out circling the block, shining searchlights, we went through the house 10+ times, and just before they called out the search and rescue team, I looked through the house again, was looking under a bedside table with a long drape over it, to the floor, thinking maybe she hid under it, when I saw a tiny wisp of her long hair just barely sticking out of the duvet cover.

Honestly if you stood a foot further down the bed, she was invisible. Totally invisible.

Man were we freaked out for a good half hour or so.
