What riding gadget, gear, item has become your favorite riding gadget?

For me:  Sena SMH-10

Connected to my IPhone the Sena SMH-10 has become one of my most valued tools for riding.  I love being able to tell my wife my eta home...or if I'm lost and the GPS has crapped out I can call a buddy and get talked in.  I also rather enjoy chatting on a ride with a few of my friends. 

Of course there's a time and a place to use it...and not to use it.  But it has become an indespensible piece of riding kit for me.

How about you?

This time of year my favorite riding gadget is heated gear.  I remember riding in the cold before heated gear and feeling like a popsicle, needing a hot shower immediately afterward to raise my core body temperature back to normal levels. 

My bluetooth headset is used a lot as well - mostly to pipe in music - but there have been a few times where I had emergency calls that left me very thankful for that Interphone F5.

I quit riding with phone/music earbuds.  I found I wasn't as focused on my riding with them.  I would say heated gear/accessory powerports are my favorite gadget.

MC-Cruise electronic cruise control.

Wrecked my wrists working on a sawmill when I was younger. Flipping logs with a Cant Hook, setting the Dogs on the carriage, Draw Knife for debarking some of the larger cuts, and of course, tossing WET 22 foot long 3x12's off the end of the mill. And 22 foot long 8x8's. Ouch.

So I have CTS in my right wrist, and despite the corrective surgery, it's not as good as I had hoped for.

my tankbag. that thing has been with me for years and has seen more miles than anything else. never used GPS on the bike and probably never will since i don't get lost.

my next fav gadget would be my homemade ID holder. mounts to the 2 bolts for the tank and holds my military ID. makes it nice n quick to go on base. I've made one for every bike except the current one since it only has 1 bolt hole for the tank, so i'm gonna have to do more thinking on that project to make it work.

i have heated gear, but only used it twice.

After thinking of all the farkles I've had I'd say the Sena too.

I'm assuming the next sound wasn't CRASH!?  Or was it?

My Chatter Box X1 SLIM.

Music, phone, FM radio, radar det., and an honest one mile range under most conditions.
The posse I ride with all run FRS & GMRS radios that have double my range, but are bulky with lots of wires.
My Chatter Box only has one wire for my push-to-talk button.

The only thing that pisses me off is Chatter Box was suppose to offer a wireless push-to-talk button in the spring of this year. NO WIRES is why I bought it in the first place, I don't like being tethered.
BUT it's still not offered!

I like my heated jacket and like Blackie Cookie I feel it's more of a luxury.

Heated vest or liner, sure.     But it doesn't count as a "gadget."   More like an essential!


As far as gadgets go, my favorite is clearly the Crampbuster.  Hands-down (see what I did there?   ).

The best $12 you will ever spend on your motorbike.

I think GPS was it for me.  I used to be a paper map guy, didn't need any GPS...then I tried one.

It is a valuable tool for making sure I'm on track and helps with timing when I'm riding.

I like the Sena too, the sound quality is much better than the GMRS radio but not the range.  It is very clear at highway speeds compared to the Chatterbox where anything over 35mph it would sound garbled and I couldn't understanding it.

The GPS I have has XM so I get music thru the GPS to the SENA. 

Yes, I know it is just supposed to be me and the bike...but I enjoy some tunes.

I'm gonna have to echo 2rr2nv. Tank bag. I can pack more useless crap in that thing than imaginable. Heck, I've taken 3 day trips with just what's in the tank bag.

Sena/iPhone combo. The GPS is great but I don't use it nearly as often as I use the Sena.

I would have to say my heated vest and/or grips. makes riding in the cold much more enjoyable and extends my riding season. I notice a lot of you enjoy music/phone while riding, I'm the opposite, riding is the one time in my day that I don't listen to anything. I find it makes the ride far more enjoyable to simply be alone with your motorcycle and your thoughts (or lack there of  )

I can do a nice ride with no music, but I like to travel and there is no way I could cross the country riding a 1000 miles in a day without some tunes.

The mp3 player has ruined music for me.

Do tell?  How so?

The shuffle algorithm sucks.  I'd have thousands of songs and keep hearing the same shit come up.  It got so bad I could tell you the next song coming up on shuffle with pretty damn good accuracy.

That's strange.  The shuffle on my iPhone is pretty good. If I have a big enough selection of songs in the shuffle, I don't usually hear the same one twice, or in a discernible pattern.  I generally use playlists, so I only get the music I want to hear anyway.

I have all the Abba playlist firmly stored in my tiny brain anyway.

+1. iTunes Smart Playlists are awesome. One of my favorites pulls any song rated 3 starts or higher that hasn't been played in more than 30 days. That does a pretty good job of keeping it fresh.
