Well how about that Tiger then by golly? Congrats, they're nice bikes. physically a little small for me so I got the Tenere instead but the new Triumphs are excellent bikes, I've owned a few over the years. Good Choice...
I had an FZ-09 which I max'd the performance options (GP suspension, Penske shock, ECU reflash, Michelin Pilot Power 3's, Spiegler SS brake lines, etc, etc, etc). But at the end of the day I created a bike I didn't like to ride very much. It was too nervous for me. It only enjoyed to be being ridden like I stole it. That OK some of the time, but not all the time.
Increasingly I am also enjoying motocamping more and more. An adventure bike that you could ride everyday, but also could be packed like a mule seems to make more sense for my kind of riding.
One thing the FZ taught me was that 800 CC's is plenty strong enough and a low weight bike is a lot of fun. It came down to the BMW F 800GS and the Tiger XC. Since I don't have a BMW dealership within a 2 hrs drive for me, I went to the local Triumph dealer and took an XC for a test ride.
It is a very comfortable ride. So supple. Good handling. Great sound. I bought it. Put my FZ up for sale and sold it within 3 days on the FZ09.org website. I love the new bike.
The farkles I will be adding this weekend are:
Moose Racing expedition cases (camping)
US Army 20mm ammo boxes (as expedition cases) for off road adventures.
Clearwater Krista's LED lights
