I know how you feel. The ass hat that bought my eliminator trashed it on the test ride. Luckily i had the money in hand.  Still sucks seeing something you have taken care of for years, wiped out that quickly.

Yeah, I know. My PRISTINE 1986 VFR750 got wrecked after I sold it. I owned it for 14 years, since new, and had converted it to 17" wheels with radial tires, plus upgraded to 41mm front forks.

Last I heard, the guy had "all the parts" to repair it, but I doubt she'd ever look as good again.

Probably held together with hardware store imperial fasteners, zip ties, and spray bombed flat black is my guess.

Those same bills and many more are now being swapped for a NEW, unmolested by ANYONE bike.  Let the speculation on it's ancestry commence.   

Tom, i was thinking today that the bike may be still in your name. I don't know how Michigan works but in Illinois all we do it sign the title over to the buyer and it's up to the buyer to do the transfer. If it's still in your name and there was property damage or medical issues it could come back to bite you.

We are the same way Ed. I always get a the buyer to sign date and time on a purchase receipt so there is no doubt when the transfer happened. After that, it is his/her responsibility.

What Gary said.  We do full dated and witnessed receipts upon sale of used bikes.  It was on consignment where I work, taking me out of the loop on dealing with the potential buyers.  And, I left the full coverage insurance on the Daytona because I figure there's a new bike in my immediate future to swap in.      I'm going to the local dealer Saturday.  If they don't get stupid on the pricing and fees, I'll take delivery next weekend of a shiny new yellow or black 2013 ____________.   Fill in the blank.   


If they do try to rape me, there's a very lightly used 2003 right down the street for sale privately for $3000.  1800 miles on the odometer and not a scratch.  That leaves several $20s to farkle it up.  We shall see.

I feel your pain. not as badly as you but dang. sold my 2002 VFR800 w/ 20k miles. it wasn't perfect mind you, but it did run quite well. New owner crashed it 10 days later OTW to the BRC track on base. Guy's first bike, first time on a bike, and totally gets it out of shape at a stop sign. Don't know exactly what happened, but evidently, all controls were involved at once. forks twisted, plastics on left side toast, broken peg, scratched exhaust and a broken ankle. he gave it to one of our coworkers who put it back together just before the new owner got moved to Florida.

Also you don't see the character marks as much with the black.

Consider whether you *really* need a longer range than the KLR tanker already has I have not had a problem with the range of mine in 90,000km with a stock tank!

Also consider making it a 685cc.  Improves that engine drastically, with no hit to the fuel economy.

I would have expected the 23 litre tank like my 2005. Over 400km per tank is common...

Me thinking Sleazys  not using the highway.

Highway or not, my main point was that I would be surprised if the KLR he's looking at has as small of tank as he says...  Personally, I'd go with a gas can if the range seems dicey for parts of only one trip - but hey, to each his own!
