Had a BBQ over the weekend with some friends over. It was commented by a woman that my house doesn't look like any bachelor pad she's ever seen before.
Puzzled, I commented, "I don't know whether to be insulted or complemented. What do you mean?"
Apparently she's been to guy's pads where the place looks like the typical bachelor pad. Clothes strewn around, beer cans stacked on the end tables, dishes stacked in the sink. One recent visit she made was a guy who had Anime posters up on all the walls in the living room (this is what prompted the comment I guess).
I like to think we're not all careless about our abodes. Personally I prefer to put things where they belong. Then I can find them when I need them. I also keep things picked up. Nothing like stubbing your toe on an out of place chair

I clean up after myself in the kitchen putting dishes in the dish washer, cleaning the counters, putting stuff away. Weekly I clean the house and work in the yard. Sweep, vacuum, empty trash, bathrooms, mow, pull weeds, etc. Monthly I
clean the house and work in the yard. Mop, dust, occasionally clean the windows, trim bushes, etc.
Perhaps I'm just a touch picky about having a relatively clean house, especially when guests are coming over.
