Hot Springs looks like Western Pa!

Back story-Transferring from St. Pete, FL to Alameda, CA. Bought an enclosed 5x6 trailer to haul the bike and other needed items. Plus, the 75lb furchild needs her third knee surgery so we wanted to give her as much room in the FJ as possible.

So day 2 of traveling and we arrive in Hot Springs, AR just in time for the next downpour to happen! Today though was amazingly beautiful! We rode to Hot Springs National Park and Ouachita National Forrest/park.

Only did around a three hour ride but it was so nice to be in the mountains again. The roads, mountains, and lakes totally remind of growing up in western pa. Highly suggest this area if you get a chance!

I always thought of Arkansas as Pennsylvania with good roads.

It's asphalt stays in remarkably good condition without the freeze-thaw cycles
PA gets each winter.

From Hot Springs north AR is pretty spectacular, especially for a motorcyclist.

I go back every few years. Never get tired of it.

I wish I would've experienced this before a cross country trip, lol! Now that you mention it, there was a lack of potholes or incorrect repair of a pothole[emoji6]

How many days are planing to take getting to the left coast?

Sounds like your going to be stopping along the way to ride some areas.

I too have enjoyed the Ozarks.  I've never stopped in Hot Springs before.  Most of my riding in that area has been North of I40.  It looks like I have something to go back for.  Thanks.

We had two bags of grass, 75 pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a saltshaker half-full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers... Also, a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether, and two dozen amyls. Not that we needed all that for the trip, but once you get locked into a serious drug collection, the tendency is to push it as far as you can.

the riding is so good, it makes up for the ferocious appetite the roads have for tires . . . .

Taking about 10 days. Stopping in Amarillo tonight and heading to flagstaff to ride around there for a couple days. Trip is going great!

I guess I should have named this thread to include my whole trip but didn't think that would be right since I was 75% driving/trailering. Sorry about that!

You have found the best way to move you and your stuff across the great expanse.
I may not be a fan of the trailer thing but with the necessity of caring lots of belongings and having the bike to do day trips it's a darn good compromise .

Thanks Andrew! With a 75lb furchild that needs her third knee surgery (hoping she wasn't going to catch up to me but yes it will happen) we needed to find a compromise of driving and riding. I'm just glad we pulled the trigger on the enclosed trailer!


And yes, Doc is a woman! My last name is Daugherty (Dock-erty), so Doc was always easier and it just stuck.
