Sconsin -- everybody OK this morning?
« on: June 17, 2014, 08:18:50 AM »
Seems you guys had some fairly biblical weather last night . . . .just counting noses . . . . . . .
We had two bags of grass, 75 pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a saltshaker half-full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers... Also, a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether, and two dozen amyls. Not that we needed all that for the trip, but once you get locked into a serious drug collection, the tendency is to push it as far as you can.

I'm pissed we didn't get any of that rain considering what it looked like by Rockford at midnight. I may have to turn on the irrigation system today.

No weather damage by me.  I'm still not riding, so there's that.   :(

Not riding? How could mere wind deflect the BMW from it's course?

Ed -- you are confused . . . . .we got 4 inches of rain less than 2 weeks ago . . . . . if you need to water anything, you may wish to reconsider planting rice in your back yard . . . . .

My water table is much lower than yours. I already have cracks in the ground a 1/4 inch. Also I have a lot of new grass coming up. And i planted 15 new shrubs that need to be watered to.

My water table is much lower than yours.

Now, THIS is likely true . . . . . . my water table is about 1/64th of an inch above the surface . . . . . .

So, everybody in Wisconsin except Ben got killed last night?

Bummer . . . . . ..

Two tornados each in Platteville and Verona.  Platteville campus is damaged.  The football  field is uprooted.  No home games for the Pioneers this year.  Campus has been shut down for the last two days.  Damaged property in Verona as well.  Have not heard of any injuries or deaths.

Do you work at UW? If so, which department?

Apparently a good amount of damage at work (I'm travelling) - thankfully nobody hurt, just money.  There are houses right down the street that were leveled.  Lots of trees, debris on the roads near/in Verona.  Not sure about casualties, but have heard that there are a good amount of overturned vehicles, trailers, etc.  Sounds bad.

I do not work at UWP.  My son went to school there.  I was at the campus last month for the graduation ceremony, so I'm very familiar with the area.

Gotcha. The way you were talking about campus being damaged, I thought maybe I had found fellow facilities management nerd on here, LOL! Storms like this week's pose some of our biggest challenges! You just never know what the outcome will be - unscathed to complete devastation or (most often) something in between. Heck, we had a wet microburst nine years ago that lasted less than a minute and wiped out six blocks of power lines. Crazy, crazy stuff!

I would not want to be the facilities people that have to deal with this. I've seen the pictures, that football stadium is trashed pretty good.  It was a nice facility too.

We got hammered- 3" of rain in 12 hours- and the next wave is coming in as I type.  It's banging away out there.  When it wicks up I'll be having a cigar and brew as I watch it storm...

We got wind, rain, hail, and epic lightning, but aside from a few dropped limbs there was no damage.

I was hoping the hail would total my Cruze. Apparently, the bodywork is the only part Chevy built to last.

I didn't hear of any injuries, so unless anybody else has heard of any, I think we were extremely fortunate.

Went through the Verna area on the way to Cross Plains and saw a lot of tree debris piled on the side of the road.
