I am replacing my R1100Rt with a 2007 K1200GT and was hoping that some of you experts out there can share your experiences with K bikes and what problems I should be looking out for?
Thanks!!!!!
You've heard the rear end and clutch horror stories. Heck, RT's have rear end woes and clutches act up, too. So you keep in mind it's a good idea to do the right thing for the bike (good maintenance and PM), keep an eye out for the warning signs, and then go enjoy the bike.
I have an '03 K1200RS and I managed to demo one '07 KGT. I liked the general feel of the bike, save the PO put on a IIRC Sargeant seat that was much too thick, and generally screwed up the ergos. The GT riding position, of course, is more upright than my RS, but I could see how it would work for long rides. Without that damn seat!
Compared to the RT's I've ridden (ancient loaner to the new water boxer), you're gonna love the turbine smooth engine with lots of torque. The RT's a good quick touring bikes, of course, but I think you'll find the GT's going to take you further with less effort.
Enjoy your new ride!
