This is the second time I've trailered my Tiger. I don't like it. I'm not nervous or anything, it just feels wrong.

Before you ask this happened because two weeks ago after much riding it would not restart until given time to cool. Once I stalled it in a u-turn, and then another was when I shut it down so as to not startle some horses.

Research makes me believe it us the starter, but Triumph NA said I need the dealer to trouble shoot. Problem is it took about 3 hours of riding last weekend for the symptoms to reappear.

Trailering motorcycles is wrong. Unless going to the track or some other good reason. What say you?

I saw four Harleys on a trailer on Tuesday, off to some meet in Northern Italy. It just puzzles me why people don't ride motorcycles to the place they are going to.

Otherwise, transporting broken down motorcycles is a needful fact of life.

When it comes to getting service done, trailering is convenient. I dropped my bike off a few weeks back and the wife followed me over to give me a ride home. She wasn't available to take me back over to the shop to pick it up (about 35 miles away) and I wasn't able to find a ride. So, I attached my trailer to my SUV and off I went.

Trailering a bike isn't the worst thing in the world. But, you're right, I does make me feel weird when doing it. I'd MUCH rather be riding it.

The other day, I witnessed a large group ride pull into a gas stop. They were from central NY and were in the process of riding down to Georgia and back. They had two support vehicles pulling empty trailers. I asked what the trailers were for and they said, "just in case we get tired or break down."

That's when trailer is lame IMO.

I piggybacked my VFR to Colorado in the back of my truck, unloaded it, then rode to North Carolina and back. First time I had done something like that.

It felt OK because man, I'll tell ya, the parts of Alberta, Montana and Wyoming I was riding through were flat and boring and I'd done them so many times before it wasn't funny.

That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it.

Meh. There are folks who just don't like to ride long distances. Riding the slab is boring for them, especially when they want to enjoy some mountain roads in far off places. It's just tedium. Or their spouses want to enjoy riding but refuse to ride on the back of a bike for days eating bugs. Heck, there are folks who probably just _can't_ ride long distances for one reason or another.

I personally don't want to have the 'busa in a trailer but know it can happen. I'm going to be embarrassed mainly because it was likely due to me ignoring something I should have investigated or doing something wrong. I had to have the 'busa carried away twice and purposefully trailered once. Once here at home. I was in Boulder and the Regulator/Rectifier melted down. There were days prior where I smelled smoke and even saw smoke coming up from behind the passenger seat on my way to Boulder before it completely melted down. Once in Alaska when I got a flat. Had I been better prepared, I wouldn't have needed to have that "tow". The trailering was when we moved to Colorado. Then _all_ the bikes were on trailers

Shit happens.

I'll be racing MX this weekend in Byron Ill In the RacerX Vet Series. There is a practice on Saturday and Race on Sunday. The track is 90 miles from me so I will be bringing the Speed Triple with me and will leave the truck and trailer there and ride the bike home Saturday and back Sunday morning.

I don't have a problem with doing this since the truck gets around 15mpg pulling the trailer and the bike gets 40mpg. That saves me a lot of money in gas and the bike is more fun.

Loaded for a trip to Florida in February a couple years ago.

There are plenty of good reasons to trailer a bike. There is no shame in it.

When mine are on a trailer its gonna cost me big bucks to get it fixed....I dont like it.

Having said that, having the trailer to put it on to get it fixed means riding time is coming again. I do like that!

But I dont like towing them. I fell better in the saddle.

I can think of many great roads I'd love to take my Dorsoduro on, but I wouldn't want to ride it there in order to do so. And last weekend while riding my GSA on those dirt roads around the PA Grand Canyon, I was imagining how much more fun they'd be on something 250-ish.

I'd rather not trailer. But, I don't find highway too dreadfully boring, can sit on a bike for extended times, and have gotten used to square tires from daily commuting. I would just rather ride there.

I can see trailering for broken bikes, or getting out of some god-forsaken ice-locked northern state to get to roads without ice on them. For me, anyway. I could see trailering a small 250 dual-sport out west for some back-country exploration if you didn't have time to ride there.

I don't own a trailer but I feel similarly. In general I'd rather be riding and I've never been on a trip that was trailerable, but if I was taking two bikes from NYC to a nice riding spot in another state...yeah, I might ride it, but I'd rather trailer it.

We actually have two trailers. One cargo trailer and one small, open trailer. We use them when the want or need arises, primarily when we are dual sporting.

With the cost of sticky tires, it's cheaper to trailer....and I don't have already highway flatted tires to start a week or weekend in the mountains.

Oh and they stole my trailer as well.

I have one friend in MD and because the dealer is nowhere near close can't always get a ride. The wife will help in a pinch but for the most part I am on my own. I have no problem trailering my bike.

However, they're very useful when trying to get from one place to another far away.

Interstates in highly populated areas are not interstates anymore.

My mom's family all used to live in NoVA (Springfield, Woodbridge, etc..). I wouldn't want to trailer, ride, drive, you name it around D.C. unless I had to.

It's just how you do a track day.

I'll also be facing this decision moving bikes between Ensenada and Phoenix. I own a nice trailer, and I see it getting plenty of use.

I trailer when something breaks, otherwise I ride. Even on the slab getting from point A to point B. I put on a good podcast (The Pace, for instance

) then ride. When I get to the twisties I put on riding music.

trailering doesn't bother me much. If I am, I'm going to a TD and I'd rather be ready for that, instead of having to spend extra time prepping the bike at my brother's house. I'd rather just have the bike gtg, get up early, get some food, trailer the 2 miles (after trailering it 800 miles to get there) to the track, and I'm gtg. WHOOPIE!!!

Now if my bike is being trailered, it's stolen! I don't own a trailer and haven't since 2007. I would LOVE to have one since they have sooo many uses besides hauling bikes.
