In about 2006, I had a majorly deviated septum corrected. I believe the doc took a little of the tissue from the turbinate, which is the mucosy tissue in your nose.
THe day of the surgery, my dad had a heart attack, so I wasn't home resting - was in another hospital (he's OK, and in really good shape). Regardless, 8 years later, I snore like a banshee and still can't breath really well from my nose. Wife hates the snoring, so I went to see a specialist. TUrns out - I still have a deviated septum. Right side is basically blocked. Covered my left nostril - can't breath enough to survive. Left side isn't bad.
SO - I'm having surgery again. WHich brings me to my question:
Do any of you know what would cause an initial septoplasty to fail? Did the original doc screw it up? Did it just not heal right? Would love some input on that.
ALSO - while having surgery, should I be looking at additional procedures for the snoring? Anyone have whats called a pillar procedure done? Or a somnoplasty where they remove some tissue from your soft palette and your uvula? I need to ask the doc a few more questions, but I didn't really even consider the idea of another septum surgery...
All input appreciated, even nonsense.
