Ok, at this point, we're in but since Liz can't get off work, we'll blasting in late Friday, arriving midnight-ish. We'll be hauling the bikes down so we can get in on whatever day rides are going on Saturday. Thank goodness she's well employed; she's treating this trip.

New Trojan on the rear. Fixed the rear case mounting plate, washed off all the dead bug guts from the last 3 weeks, now just to load the bike and it's ready.

Thanks for the invite Robert! As it happened, Jimmy volunteered the other queen bed in his room if I buy the beer. So I'm all set!

I plan to head over Thursday afternoon/evening and stay for the duration—time for some last-minute route planning!

330 somewhat boring miles yesterday to greenville, va. Today we did 250 north, 92s, to Cass, 66, 219, then 39 then back to greenville. Pretty tired. Driving to moorefield tomorrow via 220, smoke hole road. See y'all Friday

Friday looks to be pretty soggy with the driest bit (50% chance) between 9am and 3pm. So I am aiming to get there by 3pm. 1.5 hours of slab to Bellaire, gas up, then south on 26 (100 miles) if it's wet. Do the usual suspects if it stays dry. Saturday is a little more promising and Sunday looks to be nice. Saving my long day on WV16 for Sunday.

Unfortunately the whole weekend is looking pretty soggy. Be prepared. There is a stationary front just parked over the region, and a ton of moisture in the air just waiting to explode into heavy rain---and the meteorologists have no idea exactly when or where it'll happen.

So it's gonna be one of those weekends where folks riding in one area get clobbered with rain while others in a different area see none.

Oh well, if we get wet we get wet. :-)

It's poring here at casa-da MX now. Red and yellow on the radar.

I was thinking of leaving this morning but something came up last night and i didn't have enough time to get things loaded and other stuff. Good thing to cuzz the rain is moving east south east and i would be in riding in the middle of it with no chance of outrunning it.

There talking rain again over night here so i hope it looks better in the morning than it dose now. Looks like a canon ball run Friday.

It just started to pore again so i think I'll pore another cup of coffee and read the paper.

Planning on leaving from work at 3pm. Bikes cocked, locked and ready to rock for this morning. Woke up to a deluge. Ya, I'll go home and pick it up later

Heading down to Burlington On for the night. Rest of the way tomorrow. Depending on the weather, I may hop off I79 and run some goodness before arriving at the hotel.

I'm in a little quandry about gear for this trip. I normally wear Motoport Kevlar with liners. 'Cept their calling for feckin' hot along with wet. Liners isn't a good solution. I may go with my old Mesh pants and a set of rain bottoms. At least that way I can cool off if theirs no rain.

Warm-to-hot weather and rain definitely make gear choices difficult. (For me anyway.) I'm more comfortable in my mesh gear, which is about as waterproof as...well, mesh.

My Stich suit is mostly (but not entirely) waterproof...but a lot hotter.

Might be time to go buy a set of Frog Togs to wear over my mesh...or just suck it up and get soaked. (That's really the easiest solution if you don't mind getting soaked—you just ride!)

That's been my general rule (when it's hot out). The only downside is the boots filling up and getting mo' funkified if you can't get them off and dried right away. :\

According to Accuweather, it will start raining here in exactly 3 minutes.

They've been calling for rain for the last 2 days and so far I haven't seen a drop.

Yet their web page predicts it will start raining at my house now.

They'd be lucky if they could get yesterday's weather right.

Glad I watered the garden yesterday. Send that rain here.

And always pack your rain gear.

Im at the hotel.

It started raining with about 100 miles to go.

Major road work outside the hotel. Minor electrical fire closed the road and knocked out power in
the hotel for about an hour. The entire street was dead for a couple of blocks.

Im looking forward to tomorrow!

Went to put my tool kit back under the seat last night and found the space occupied by a freakin mouse nest. Luckily no damge. I need to ride more so this doesnt happen.
Should be on the road by 8:30. Clouds are breaking here and if the models hold true, should be able to skate down dry.

Who can give me a reasonable projection on the weather. Our budget just got severely constrained and if we go, I want it to be a good bang for the (very few) bucks. Driving 6 hours to putt around at 25mph in the rain on our last $100 isn't gonna get it. If the weather holds, we're both game.

Arrived, at the Lafayette where we're staying. No rain the whole ride down from Cleveland. Took mostly 83 and 60; 555 tempted us at Zanesville but we were a bit tired by then and just wanted a cool shower.

Fantastic ride today! We led the Smokers, mxvet, and mr. awesome for approximately 280 miles of twisty goodness. Most notably, we popped Smoker's SE Ohio cherry, to which he said, "That's the most fun you can have with clothes on!" The weather was amazing...bright blue skies and puffy white clouds. It was a little warm but it's also August! Time to get cleaned up and get my margarita on!!!
