What have you got and would you recommend it? I hear very good things about the DID KM500...but it's not cheap and I wouldn't be using one that often to make it worth while.

I use a cut off wheel in an electric drill.
I tried cutting off the heads of the rivets once, now I just cut the links.
And I'm using the screw on master links now.

They are £136!!! For only occasional use, I can't really justify that.

I've used this one to do my last 3 chains, 1 just last week in fact.  It works great (I've nothing to compare it to though) and there are a few YouTube videos to help as well.

I think mine is a Motion Pro? works fine, don't remember what I paid though?

My EK breaker pin bent the last time I used it and had to get a simpler one from the local shop. It only did it 90% out. I had to use pliers to finish the extraction. I purchased a Motion Pro 08-0058 Breaker Riviter and used it yesterday. The pin shattered with the chain pin half way out when I was breaking the new chain to eliminate the extra links. I zipped down to the local shop again and got what they had, a Motion Pro 08-470. This one was specific for a 530 chain. The breaking pin seemed to be a snugger fit than the first Motion Pro. The extraction was smoother and quick.

The EK was close to $200 and no way to get replacement pins. The Motion Pro was $63 at Amazon. The second Motion Pro was $90 at the dealer with a 20% off sale yesterday. With tax it was $79.
