Lodging can be pretty pricey, even at normally el-cheapo places.  We're camping again this year because of it.

 :lol:   It's pretty pricy even staying out as far as Schroon Lake, Warrensburg or Bolton's Landing.  I haven't been there since 2005(?) ish.  Wonderful riding and great scenery, just too many people in too small an area for me.  I stayed in Hague my last trip out.

I went once, just to say I did it. It wasn't really my thing. It wasn't horrible, but I'm in no rush to go again. Maybe if I had a group of friends to go with, it would be more fun. But it was just the wife and I.

For lodging, I absolutely love this place. Have been there a few times. http://www.hideawaywaterfrontcottages.com/ The best is the Lakefront, then the Coves. They even move the picnic tables out from under the pavilion and let the bikes park there. It's a nice quiet place, but close enough to all the action.

I like the vibe up there with thousands of (mostly) well-behaved riders, and there is some decent riding in the surrounding area. I'm also a sucker for demo rides, though this year the pickings are pretty slim.  I've done a few of the organized activities in the past (boat ride, rodeo, guided tour, etc) but didn't really find them that enjoyable so nothing this year.

This will be my 10th Americade and 14th m/c trip to the Lake George area.  I've always used it as a HQ to do my own long day-rides ("Shamrock touring" as RoadRunner mag calls it), though I like to hit a few seminars and the opening and closing ceremonies.  The trade show has lost some appeal since online sales took over, but I'll still wander in; I always manage to find some little doo-dad I can't live without.  :)

I never been to Americade but friends stay at the Alp Horn Inn in Chestertown, NY. Far enough from the traffic but close enough for day trips.
