My Formotion stick on clock has a dead battery and since it'll cost me more to replace the battery than I paid for it, I thought I'd see what else is out there.

Anyone else have a luddite bike without a clock built into a fancy computerized dash?

What do you use?

I'd prefer something stick on, small, and ideally backlit so I can read it at night. No preference for analog/digital.

Good luck. I've always wanted one of those and never liked anything I found.

That being said, Wunderlich had a really beautiful stick-on clock that I adored (but couldn't afford). I can't find it on their website anymore, so they may no longer carry it.

Yikes, sorry to hear the battery for the Foremotion costs more than a new Foremotion! The clocks themselves are not cheap. I had one on my KTM Adventure, but never needed to replace the battery.

I use a wristband watch for a clock.

The band on my digital wrist watch broke and it was cheaper to replace the watch than to buy new bands. With the old watch, I removed the bands, and placed the watch face on my motorcycle with some velcro.

Benefits:
1. Functional
2. Already suited to your own taste (i.e. you picked out the display of the watch (lighting, size/shape of the numbers/hands) when you bought it so you already like how it looks).
3. Cheap
4. Hopefully uses a more common size watch battery, which will be cheaper if it needs to be replaced in the future.

FWIW, I have a small stick on Formotion that cost me $20, not a spendy one.

Arguably the $15 to send it back to have the battery changed is less than what I paid for it, but I definitely don't have the original receipt anymore and going to the post office with two small kids is definitely more than $5 worth of effort.

The waterproof/backlit micro clock on Aerostich looks like what I'm looking for...gonna measure the available space and see if it'll fit.

A quick search shows that same clock is also sold at Revzilla, Twisted Throttle and Amazon for $29.95 versus $35 at Aerostich....but it's not getting very good reviews from the small handful of people that gave comments.

Almost any drug store will yield a small, stick on clock for less than ten cash dolalrs american, and in a variety of colors, too!

won't last more than a coupld of years, but at that price . . . . .

Or, take the your existing clock to the jeweler/watch battery person . . .. .

Even with shipping costs, that URL was cheaper than the other places I'd seen it sold.

bomber -- I thought about doing the jeweler route too, but again, not worth $20 of my time with carting 2 kids around. Heck, I don't even grocery shop anymore if I have both kids. Safeway delivery all the way.

Had it on for at least 10 years, three batteries, and it gives me time and temp. I bought it when I needed a clock- this one came with a thermometer too, although it's about 4-5 degrees generous. Now I have a clock on the B12 gauges, a clock on the GPS, and this one.

It has been a great buy. Rain, shine, probably 60K miles on it- it just keeps going.

It's a vey common quartz movement in those, probably a Miyota. I have tools to deal with it.

Mine doesn't pop off, it unscrews, but appears to require a special tool. I've been able to use needlenose pliers held open.

More often than you would think when your girlfriend has a fuckload of quartz movement fashion watches.

I have a few good ones with batteries dying at 2 year intervals, randomly. Thats about the expected lifespan of a watch battery, unless you pull the crown and stop the movement. But watches are like bikes.

I've got a pretty nice dress watch with quartz movement.
I got a lifetime battery from Batteries Plus for it. The receipt is in the case with the watch. I'm on my 3rd battery from them, so it was a good investment.
I was thinking of getting a different dress watch, because the one I have doesn't have illuminous hands or numbers, but now I've always got my cell phone with me...

Believe it or not, there was actually some drama involved in attaching the new clock. You see, I have a thermometer stuck on the left side of the triple tree brace and my previous clock was on the right. I wound up getting a larger new stick on clock (also Formotion) and when I tried to put it where the old one was, there wasn't enough clearance for the clock stem.

So I had to get a flathead screwdriver and peel off the thermometer, put a new sticky back on the thermometer, put THAT on the right hand side, and then put the clock on the left. The clock doesn't 100% sit flat on the triple tree brace so hopefully it won't come off at freeway speeds, causing me to have to, once again, get a new stick-on clock.
