Kim is finding her Governor a bit taxing for tactics work so she's thinking of the 226. Anything to look out for? She's got her heart set on a sig. Prolly the 9 since we'll be dispensing of a lot of lead w/ it in the very near future.

I get to shoot a 226 from time to time as a friend I go to the range with has one. I like it and shoot it well. I love the double to single action and the hammer release feature.

I've shot one (9mm) once briefly at a CCW class. I want one and it's next on my list. I like it for it's features, styling/appearance, reputation, etc. I don't necessarily want a polymer 9mm and I definitely don't want a Glock.

I have the 229 which i bought 10 ish years back as my cc gun when i moved into va. It is not that small not that light the options are much better now.
I know nothing about the 226, but both my 220 and 229 have never failed to feed or fire. Both are far more accurate than their shooter.
What issue exactly is she trying to solve with the new tool?

I have a P226 - what a great handgun. The ergo's are just superb, if just a bit big with that double stack mag. Still, it's the most accurate auto in my safe and is my bedside gun.

Don't know if the P series suffers from this, but my Sig Mosquito (.22 plinker) does not feed hollow points very well. Lots of jamming. CCI mini mag is the most reliable ammo through it.

More bullets in less time for less money. The Governator is a hoot to shoot esp w/ the 410 pdx load but that's not something you want to do all day. Even w/ ball lead, its not cheap and reload time, since you have to use moonclips
for ACP, is pretty daunting. Reloading after every 6 shots makes for a long day and bloody fingers. The issue she's trying to solve is that she has too few guns...duh. You know her. Do you think that personality lends itself well to
moderation when it comes to bullets?

Yes any 9mm will be a massive improvement.

The sigs are spendy - get as many different manufactures and makes in her hands as possible as it is quite personal and I know how picky she can be about her tools.

Some people love Glocks some hate 'em. If she has shot a few hundred rounds through a 226 and loves it then get it. If she read reviews and was told she should get it she should test it alongside 4-5 other blinded.

But you know all this - she is going to get whatever she wants in the end and it will be a massively researched and justified decision.

Oh yeah, that's another thing I REALLY like about it.

There are two guns I shoot much better than others. One is my Kimber 1911 (single stack) and the other is the Sig 226. The Sig does have excellent ergonomics comparred to any other double stack I've shot.

Have had 2 (sometimes I forget. other times i'm a slow learner). Ended up dissatisfied both times. The 2x4 grip and the krunchenticker trigger are off putting. Very reliable and well made. Not my cuppa because I prefer the 1911 types.

Nope. The Gov will run every time. Thus her interest. It's a bedside gun. She's blind as a bat and doesn't want to take chances on some clever "option" on a semi
not being there for her if her life depends on it. So for making the things that go bump in the night go thump in the night, it's perfect. What she needs now is a range gun and something for regular plinking and possible future purse carry or car carry.

Now, mail order or local shop... Must find local shops to check.

You can't go wrong with a sig. Best trigger of any of my guns and by far my favorite. If you want a little less spendy, have her test drive a Springfield XD.

The SRT 226 has the best TDA trigger on the market. QC has improved over the past few years. If she doesn't mind da/sa guns, go for it.

I would describe the governor as a factory chopper with a hardtail, stretched frame and mega rake.

Sure, it'll run. The question is not really whether you can start the bike. It's "does it do anything worth doing? "

I use the 229 at work. Its the .40 but I have not heard about one problem with it. I'm 5'7" female and it fits great in my hands. I recently got the M&P shiled, has she thought of something like that? It's especially good for size and cap.

Yeah, my brother has the Shield so we'll likely get to shoot that soon. The 229 is a tad smaller *edit* (than the 226, not the shield) but she's fired all bigger guns so the 226 will seem compact by comparison. Price didn't really justify size difference.
We just looked at the double stack shield. I like that.
We're probably going to run a 226 this weekend. Maybe a couple others too.
