A few PM 's with the seller and it's not going to happen as he wants more cash than I have in the Moto budget. Besides the fact that it doesn't make sense.

Back to dreaming of a properly toured out ZX14...will have to check insurance.

Is there something in particular you like about the ZX? The reason I ask is... a CBR/XX is a seriously worthy option and has great aftermarket support, and all the positive points of everything discussed thus far.

Just a thought for the budget...

Nothing in particular. I could likely find a newer one with less miles.

There was this silver zx14 on STN with a silver lidded top case that I drooled at for a while.

I'd personally prefer a K1300S but that's out of the cards due to $$$.

I've ridden an XX (a buddy has one) and I liked it, but I've also ridden an '08 zx14 and it spoke to me more than the Honda. The Honda felt a bit wooden, like driving a commute.  the zx14 was more engaging. I had a Busa for a day in Florida and I really liked it, but the styling (while last on my list of priorities) didn't work for me.

Who knows. Whatever I replace the Sprint with, IF I replace it (it really is just a great bike) it will have to be fully faired. If I found a fully faired 2nd gen FZ1 with bags and modified the way I wanted it, I could even go that route.

Thankfully, I'm fortunate to have and be very happy with the two bikes in my garage and could be for many years to come. I just always have an itch for another...

I'll just never understand that mindset.[1]

Oh, if we're factoring women and logic into the same equation, I'm stepping as far away from this discussion as is humanly possible.

Passion to get to know them, logic as to whether you should stay with them. It's all balance. Even at my relative young age of 42, I've gleaned that marriages based solely on passion are the most likely to end prematurely.

Thread jack over - back to fast, faired bikes to function as ST's.

Goodness help me for even suggesting this.... Ducati ST3?

Or, find a decent example of a Futura? I freaking LOVE the Futura.  :inlove:

I love the Futura as well, but as a partner to a Tuono of the same vintage and motor?

If I don't go seriously fast, like ZX14, or even nicely modded FZ1, or just keep the Sprint, which I love, and if I found the right low miles Futura, I'd consider it. Never ridden one but a smoother version of that V990 Rotax might be a pretty amazing ride...

But two early 2000 Aprilias seems a recipe for disaster...

I could also do a cruiser/tourer so long as I kept the Tuono, like a Guzzi California? The new ones look pretty sweet, but again, $$$.

Or for the fuck of it, an old Super Magna... ALWAYS wanted one of those, or a VMax...

Yes, while I am currently happy, the blood of a bike whore flows freely through my veins.

If you want to look at a V-Max, I'll put you in contact with my buddy Wayne; he's been something of a V-Max aficionado for some time now, knows a lot about them, and flips a lot of them after fixing what other people to "improve" them.
