A dude wants to trade me even up for my Maxim. His ad:
I am selling my 1994 deville sedan. It has no rust, clean, original rag top, 206,000 miles, belonged to my great aunt, garage kept, well maintenced. I wanted to keep this beauty but I need the money. I've done a lot of work to make her showroom quality, and run top notch! Ive: replaced the fuel injector, rebuilt the motor, new calipers and pads, new tires, new plugs and wires. Needs a rear brake line replaced.

I'm thinking the car might be worth more than the bike.

Any thoughts besides "he needs the money" yet wants to trade for a bike?

This would be one of the dumbest thing you'd ever do.

Those things are notorious for electrical problems.

We may even have to pull your man pipe card.

There is nothing special about a 90s Caddy. Especially one with 4 doors and a hard top. I wouldn't want it as a driver with 200,000 miles on the clock. You might be able to flip it for $1500 if you found the right sucker.

I'd keep the Maxim.

I was leaning towards saying "no", but I thought maybe I could flip the car for more than I could flip the bike. The bike is probably realistically worth around $800, given our market here.

I know nothing about that car but a 4 door sedan in Good condition is worth closer to $1,066 than the $2,000 he is asking for it....but hey, it belonged to his Great Aunt and is a "beauty". "Showroom quality" on a 20-year old car?

Two months ago i blew the rear brake line on the explorer. It was easier to run a new brake line to the rear axle since to repair the existing one was to difficult.

Did one on a 95 Explorer I had not too long ago myself. I just question ads that say it needs so-and-so and is very easy....I have to wonder that if it was so easy, why didn't they do it so the ad could say "100% perfect, nothing wrong" and get top dollar? Like "ran when parked" means "doesn't run now". If it ran, and you know they tried it, it would have that other grand feature, "runs".

Sold mine for $1,500 with 45k on the clock about....4 years ago. In the UP, not the hub of economic prosperity.

I would love that big tank of a car if I had a new driver in the house. I learned on a '77 Olds Ninety Eight. Powder blue with powder blue interior. 6.6 liter / 403ci four barrel carb...loved that car.

One, it's safer to drive than most.
Two, if you can learn how to maneuver one of those tanks, driving regular sized cars should be a breeze.

But I wouldn't want someone else's problem either...

When I was 16, one of my buddies had a '79 Coupe DeVille, and another a '78 New Yorker. We used to rear end each other, tires spinning with bumpers locked, without any damage to the cars.

Saw a tank like this get rear ended. Crumpled up little Toyota, old tank with a scratched bumper.

Of course, I could watch the gas gauge needle visibly drop whenever I floored it my olds...

Remember back in the 70's when they had the vacuum gauge on the dash to show if you were getting good or poor fuel economy.
