So the conversion:  Just a wheel swap?  What else did you have to do?  I would love to do that to my XR650...

These are factory DRZ400SM wheels. The KLX is actually a DRZ-S with green plastics, so the wheel hubs are the same on the S and SM. Straight swap on the wheels. I'm still using the S rotors for now till i'm sure i like it then will upgrade to the 320mm front rotor that will require a caliper relocation braket. The Rear rotor should be fine for the street but would require a caliper carrier off a RM250 to go to the SM rotor on the rear. Rear sproket is different due to smaller wheels. 15/44 on S 15/41 on SM so chain replacement was needed. I'll have to get another chain to put my 18/21 rims back on. I also need to do something about the speedometer. The drive unit is different, again due to the wheel size. I can get a unit off a SM or for a few bucks more i can get a trail tech vapor that is electronic speedo plus a tach, engine and ambient temp. I'll probably go that route. It was recommended to change the chain buffer to the SM style which has side brackets that stop the chain from hitting the wheel. Bolt holes line up the same but need a little grinding off the bottom to clear welds on the swing arm.

For you Clay, if you dont work something out with Tom I would look at these guy's. https://motoxindustries.com/product/supermoto-conversion-kit/

They have complete kits, wheels, mounted tires, rotors with relocation brakets, sprokets and chains. If i hadnt have stumbled onto the OEM wheels, I would have gone this route myself. They have probably the best pricing as well. If i remember right they had a 10% code "cyber" that was still active a month ago. Free shipping as well.

I was finally able to get out on the KLX with the new SM wheels yesterday and an extended ride today. Man is this thing a blast to ride. I'm going to need to throw it in the truck and take it to a decent location for some twisties. SE OH would be a great place to give it a proper run.

SUCK.  Those look great- but I'm about to drop some coin on a new (to me) tractor.  My 425 is getting a bit long in the tooth.

I was out 8+ hrs today.  Rode across most of southern Wisc and back.  Watched a Memorial day parade.  Then went to a few Veteran Memorial parks (I'm a veteran).  It was hot since mid-day.  I had an ice cream, and then a cold sub for a late lunch.
I got the stink-eye from a lady on a scooter when I was almost home.  I was catching up to her and another scooter (in the same lane) when the light we were approaching turned red.  I blipped the throttle and down shifted a few times.  She whipped her head around and I could tell she really didn't like my DIY baffle in the aftermarket muffler on my Ninja 650.  I fret that I may have caused her to use her poise pad to full capacity...

You changed the exhaust note?  Why do you hate the Jetsonsmobile?

Seeing as I no longer have to deal with kid pickup directly after class, I am now free to ride the ninjabike to work and back.  Glee!

The kid I bought it from changed it first.  Scorpion muffler w/o baffle.  I made it semi-civilized.

Congrats on being able to ride your NinJet more!

Finally got the triumph out of the barn for the first time this year and got a short evening ride in. As much as I am enjoying bopping around on the SM,  tonight's ride reminded me of how smooth and linear the power is on the Tripple.

I had an 03 in green.  I really liked that bike.  I forget why I sold it.  I put quite a few miles on that bike in short order but that's when we were doing a fair number of trips down the BRP and in WV.  Very comfortable, very sporty, and probably my best reach to the ground bike (non cruiser) I've ever had.

Did an extended loop along the French River on the longest day of the year. Was one of 'those' rides. Bike was happy, weather perfect, light traffic.

Then I hit about about 15km of loose pea gravel on a 650lb FJR.  Bike stayed vertical, lean back and crank it works on the queen mary too.

I did!   had my first real day ride of the season and it could not have been a nicer day. 260 miles of some of my favorite roads and a great BBQ lunch at Hickman's hotel BBQ. We need to make this a lunch spot. I ate at the new location in Pinckney but the original in Dexter would make a better spot for a group meet. Picked up and moved a photo tag while I was at it.

I did 5 hours of southeastern WI county highways (and a few connecting roads).
I'm digging making routes on https://kurviger.de/en and transferring the .gpx file to my Nuvi.
There was a detour between my second and third route point.  For some reason the Nuvi kept routing me to the 3rd route point, even when I got near the 4th point.  And then past it.
I had to exit the route and re-select / activate it.

Yesterday jumped on the LT and rode 300 miles north to Waterbury, VT
Stopped to have lunch with a friend working in Grafton and then take a swim in Warren Falls
Today rode 370 miles back hitting a couple of big name VT breweries
Of course I had to ride the AppGap, RT. 17 & Middlebury Gap, RT. 125

My brother retired recently.  His wife is still working.
He and I got together this afternoon (his body is still on second shift schedule) and went riding for a few hours (he's got a F6B, that he really likes).
We would have rode more, but he had to take their (her) dog to the groomer.

Yesterday took a ride to the Catskills.  5 hours to Oneonta for lunch then 3-1/2 hours home.  390 miles total.  Found a new fun road - 213 from Stone Ridge to Olivebridge.  My only regret is not enough time to do the usual side trips I take off 28 & 23.

Just to work. Home is almost always the long way however.
You never see a motorcycle parked outside a psychiatrists' office.
Where am I?

Took my wife on a 400km ride to Manitoulin Island for lunch.  Days like that remind me why I ride.

Rode to (and from) the bank
To get some cash
For the new-to-me bike I'm buying tomorrow
Which I will ride at least 2 hrs home
I'll ride longer if the weather permits

I got the new-to-me BMW F800ST out this afternoon - after cobbling together a tank bag mount and hacking into the wiring for the optional Nav(GPS) to power my Nuvi.   So nice to have the GPS on switched power.
4.5 hours in unseasonable warmth - upper 80's!
A nice collage of urban roads, county highways thru the country side and some small towns and a bit on the freeway.
I'm digging the bike, but;
It's gonna take a while to get use to the low RPM engine - red line is 8,500!
It's gonna take a while for me to memorize all the dash info control sequences
