Hawks Nest?

It's a unique stretch; nowhere else looks quite like it.

Yes, it is Hawk's...Oh, I get it.  Nevermind

It sure won't look like that today.  Prolly just as empty though!

Yep. wife said I could head out for a nice ride. muhhaahhaa which worked to my advantage in many ways.  Since our Anniversary is coming up this week, we are going up to Deadwood to celebrate after I get back from the mines. Well, I wouldn't have any time to get her something before heading out. So, going for a short ride let me spend some time at Kay Jewelers buying that special gift. Woot! Mission success! we are GTG for Friday!  awwww yeah!!!

It would be pretty normal. She's used to me and my purchases. She loves helping out to  surprise my wife. she's also trying to make up for one of her salespeople screwing up the surprise my wife had planned for me for Xmas. Wife was pissed that the store called me instead of her.

Revival - drunken post #678 - Yes, I'm hoime now.  I found out 2 3  things.

I like whiskey.

The PR4s n the Connie do not like tar snakes.  They're like freaken speed bumps.  I swear I can feel the elevation change when I cross them through a corner.  Could be because I was running higher tire pressures.  Tried running both front and rear at 42 based on JJ's advice.  Bike turns in surprisingly quicker.  Must keep this in mind on 311.

I now understand what the professional reviewers mean about the linked brakes biting when you step on the rear after the front has been applied.  Was overtaking a left-lane parade of big - I mean they were big - I mean the Riders were big - and their bikes - on the 309 expressway.  When the lead rider does a fist pump - I thought he was signalling single file; he meant change lanes - and the big red (no helmet - that's how I her hair was red) just crosses into my lane without checking her mirrors.

You cannot practice emergency stops.  I was actually started out trying to do that earlier today on some empty highway.  Emergency stops are something you cannot simulate.  I got a good taste of it when big red head slipped across the lane in front of me.  She was even more surprised than I was.

I was feathering the front and clamped on the rear.  No choice - recipe for disaster!!! The Connie handled admirably although it bucked a bit.  TG for ABS.  There may have not been whol;e lotta skill involved.

I slipped outside as she crossed inside and rolled the throttle to the stop. Won't be seeing those folks again.

That is all.

So, did the whiskey flow to calm the nerves or to celebrate missing big red?

I rode Liz's bike around the block last night to make sure it's good to go after checking the tires, chain (lube), etc., after a Winter hiatus. That's it. Today, I hope to clock some miles on mine.

Yesterday I had my daughter with me all day, and she's a few weeks post-concussion (collision and crash during her basketball game). So, instead, we did all our running around in the convertible, sans first gear and all. :)

For sure. Makers & honey did a good job of bluring that mental image.

I was just out having fun.   160 Miles to Find coffee shop, Where I ordered a Coke after seeing their equipment.  Did stumble on a great little piece of road.  Had me thinking about Region 4 coffee rides.

It was just so ironic that I was deliberately trying to get the back to bite so I would know what to expect and couldn't make it happen.  (it wasn't as aweful as the reviewers made it sound.)

I rode yesterday but just got to this today. I did the dead relatives tour. It was a year ago that my sister passed and her ashes are at an undisclosed location in my hometown.

I go at least once a year to visit my dads grave.

At this point I was thinking that a KLR would be nice, I just wrote some road names on a piece of paper and followed that. About five miles was like this,

It was a gorgeous three hour trek there for about a hundred and forty miles and a very unpleasant return trip of the same on mostly highway. Almost got killed in Springfield Ma. when I stopped for gas.

The waitress commented "You don't look like a biker. You look more like an astronaut." After a hearty laugh, I told her she is not the first to tell me that, although usually the term "filthy" comes along with the term "astronaut". Then added  "I actually do look like a biker. What I don't look like is a pirate."  ;)

I did. 38° out.   No deer wanted to jump out in front of me but a lot of cars did.

Yeah. Filled the bike up. Went by the bank. Ran down to Keyser and grabbed a couple of cigars.

I refused to acknowledge that riding season is over.
Rode to work today. Got snowed on. A lot. Sigh.

Not really, temps in the low 40's and very windy.

Saw a ton of these today.

Had to run a slower pace than normal, cold damp roads in certain areas. I'm not going to complain, riding in mid December around here doesn't happen often.

Can't beat the reservoir area of NY..
