Riegoldswil - a quick winter ride
« on: February 06, 2021, 03:55:39 PM »
My new-to-riding friend just got her coms system (yay for Sena!) and wanted to try them out. The weather cooperated somewhat so Dan and I took her for a bit of a ride today. It was about 80 kilometers and chilly. My bike showed a high of 8°C  but at least it was dry!

A rough estimate of our route

The Senas paired really easily, which was a relief. I hadn't put my Gerbings on, but I had it in the top case. We didn't get too far when I pulled over to put it on. Might as well be comfortable since I had it!

Mac is doing really well with her riding, especially since it is winter and she's not getting out much. It was enjoyable to have the com system set up. She could tell us when she was cold, and we could give her pointers on stuff that she was having issues with. Most of her problems were mental, as I'm sure that you can all relate to. She is too tense in the corners and her shoulders were causing her issues by the end of the ride. It'll come with time...

I missed the "no unauthorized vehicles" sign - oops

The yellow tint to the sky is caused by a bunch of dust that had blown in from Africa. It gave the day an odd feeling, because it was more than just "overcast".

We split up when we were almost home, easily able to say "good bye" without having to stop the bikes. Then it was just a quick ride through France to get back home. Yes, I did take a wrong turn - but was it really a "wrong" turn when we had roads like this?

The weather's supposed to get cold and wet again, so I'm not sure when we'll be able to get out again. I'm glad we did it today!
