I think you're ok in the fun parts of Virginia and West Virginia. We were doing fine at the beach, until tourist season started $:-\$

The problem is, getting across the border. No non essential road travel allowed. And if we were able to, mandatory 14 days quarantine on the way back.
Also getting health insurance coverage would be a bit of a problem.

Well, I dunno, we had a customer who had a stroke in Austria.
Health care fees were over $120K before repatriation. IMO health care insurance is a good thing.

I got out for 350+ miles in the WV panhandle and southeast OH yesterday. The slog home on the interstate in the afternoon was brutal. Damn it was hot (~100 air temp).

I rode around the house a couple times then up and down the driveway for practice. Sounds lame unless you’re familiar with my driveway. At the steepest part of the sharpest turn, I have to turn in to go around my gate. It’s a very narrow path with a small pine tree right next to it. The point is that we don’t want anyone realizing there is a viable way around the gate thus the narrow and leaving the little tree. Oh and the steep sharp turn is where the gravel is the thickest. Yeah, practice.

Good news is no worries with the abs or the new weight and height to deal with. I guess I remember how to do this stuff after all. I can’t wait till Wednesday to get tagged and Thursday’s commute. I am having visions of 50/50 tires tho.

I did. A very pleasant ride in this morning. No more death grip at speeds in excess of 60. No more planning ahead and doing geometry in my head before pulling out in traffic. No more full on windblast in my face. No more of many things.

downside: no more 65mpg. no more flat foot reach to the ground. no more being really lazy about my mc skills. time to bring the game back up to where it was and beyond.

Yep again. Went into town to meet Robert and his boy who rode down on their FJRs. Good burger, good company. Showed them a little loop in the neighborhood as they were headed west before north. Good times.

I finally had the chance to put about 250 miles in around the Morris/Renovo/Galeton areas again today (without incident) with my SO. Beautiful weather, though a touch on the warm side.

I had the opportunity to ride around the Williamsport PA area today with my SO and a good friend. We extended the NeXXT2020 riding, which had a focus in DuBois PA again this year. Cold but mostly sunny seemed to be the way of things this past weekend. Still, riding is riding.

Rode around Lake Ontelaunee today. Used to live nearby. Don't think I've been on this road since sometime in the 80s. Now I live way on the otherside of those hills in the distance.

Oh, and it was warm. Dashboard thermometer read 78F when I took this pic. Shorts & t-shirt under my gear.

What was supposed to be a 3 day weekend riding out to western VA and staying at Willville MC Camp got shortened to a 2-day trip thanks to the remnants of TS Beta.

Met up some local guys on ADV and headed out Saturday morning getting rained on for about the first hour. Taking 460 then Rte 40 and 8 up to Meadows of Dan. Made camp for the night in Willville and told the usual tall tales around camp fire.

It's the first time that I've tent camped in about 25 yrs. Now I remember why. My thermarest air pad seemed a whole lot smaller than I remembered it being $:-\$ So maybe it was a good thing that I only had to spend one night in a tent vs. two.

All-in-all it was 600+ mile weekend that I was sorely in need of. Now I'm just sore.

About 200 miles yesterday. Stock rear tire is bald at 5,000 miles. New front & rear Dunlop RS-IVs on order.

Came to the realization this morning that all of my riding in 2019 has been within a 50 square mile area of eastern PA.

I was putzing around Fleetwood when I saw this pretty little steeple on a hill, and I thought to myself, if we were somewhere in Europe I'd be checking it out. So I drove over for a look-see. They were having services, so I cut my engine and coasted down the hill into and out of the parking lot. I see some resemblances to Flemmish design in the construction - found nothing about the history of the church online - still a pretty sight.

I did. And it was cold, rainy, dark, windy and there was much fog on the mountain. Not a banner day on the motorcycle. On the way home, it was just cold, rainy, and windy. I put the new Givi in the upper position which had me looking completely through it. This was just a test. Not a good one really because of the wind. There were drops of water everywhere. In the high position, the bottom of the screen was above the upper part of the fairing so those drops were jumping back on me or floating around in front of my face or landing on my chin depending on how the wind was blowing. Good times. :| It will probably be good for cold weather because I was indeed behind a bubble. The heated grips and gerbings will likely keep me sufficiently warm. It will take some doing to get used to looking through a screen all the time tho. In the lowest position, I can just see over it. I'll have to play with it and find the sweet spot.

Then I came home and built a fire in the stove.

The app said it was 29 this am. The Thermometer on the porch said 32. No wind, no rain so I rode. The Aerostich neck gaiter thing is bomb. The other one I have is smaller and better for a little cold but this one is what you want when it's really cold. I tuck in down into my Gerbings and all is well. I wore my Smartwool gloves. That's the last step before going to the Gerbings heated gloves. I'm really not interested in yet another thing to do and undo if I can avoid it so that will be an ongoing experiment. I have the Barkbusters and heated grips so by the time I need heated gloves, some other part of me will probably have already tapped out. Legs and feet? Meh. I'll be able to go a few more degrees colder but not much. I've taken to wearing clear glasses in the morning to deal with that obnoxious little bit of cold air that creeps in my shield. Works like a charm. The barn door Givi screen is the only way I can ride this cold. It's just breaking through the air and putting it behind me. Kinda love it. Still getting used to actually looking THROUGH a windscreen but this morning I tucked in behind that thing like it was Captain America's shield. I kinda feel like 25 will be my cut off but I'll have to confirm that the hard way.

We rode 255kms on Monday. Yesterday I parked the bike for the winter. I put 5070 kms on the bike this year which is pitiful compared to what I used to do. But Covid killed our plans for riding in the USA after we left Florida plus the STO gatherings went poof. Let’s hope 2021 is far better. We’re really really pulling for a successful vaccine.

I was out for about 50 miles. There was some ice on the sides of the road but nothing to bad until I went down this one road. The sun was in my eyes and the road was a glare. I decided to flip a Uee and noticed a big patch of ice not 5 feet farther down the road. After that I was only on dry roads.

My potential for riding has been largely hampered by a huge patch of ice. It's in a turn and protected from the sun by pine trees so it hangs out way longer than it should. Also off camber and about 30 to 40' long so even duck walking over it would be dicey. Between the rain and snow last week, there will be water coming out that hill for a while.

I did, in fact. 38 degrees when I left the house. Not as warm as I got closer to work as evidenced by the patch of ice I hit. Quick shift in tire position resulting in a massive shift in attention to road condition and side force usage. The folks that were behind me were less than amused by my new risk mitigation measures for the remaining couple miles to the gate. Maybe riding in January isn't as good an idea as it seemed.
