I mentioned awhile back that I had the prostate cancer.  That should end tomorrow with the removal of the prostate starting at 7:30 AM.  They say a four hour surgery.  My wife can stay until the surgeon comes out and says "Yep, he's not dead."  Then I will be 1-3 overnights in the hospital.  I'm banking one one overnight, but if there's more I'll relax in the luxury of a mostly-deserted building with great service and tasty treats.  Prayers/thoughts appreciated.  I'mm good with this though- my heads in a very good place.  I have no fear- I just need to patience to recover well.

Good thing I'm done with my boys.  Now they will have no fuel.   :bigok:

Good luck, man. I look forward to the many and various butt-related jokes after you've recovered.

Been there, done that.  The catheter afterwards is more of a bother than anything else, in my experience.  Figure about a month and you’ll be able to ride again.  Hopefully you have no further problems afterwards, some men do, some don’t.  I was lucky and had none.  My brother was the same way, but I have a friend that wasn’t so lucky. Pain was never a problem.  Good luck and God speed.

Just thought of something....

You’ll have the catheter for about a week.  Get yourself a plastic bucket with a handle on it to put the bag in.  Makes it much easier to move around with it.

BTDT....my surgery was 10 am & I was released 2:30 pm next day...1 thing they didn't mention is your sac swells up bigger than a grapefruit :wow:
+1 to what PATMO posted about using a pail to cart around the cath bag......the other issue with it that it would wake me up when I would move around in bed during the nite trying to dislocate the tube from the "shaft"... it'll also take some practice trying to fart w/out pissing yourself, thank GOD for depends!!
I was back on the bike after 4 weeks...although I "did" an easy test seating on the bike after the cath had been removed to see if there would be any issues, but the missus was not pleased.. she said something to the effect that I was on my own if the stiches happened to come apart.. :o
thankfully, the cancer was all contained & had not metastasized..  & now after 2.5 yrs., I only need my PSA checked every 6 mths, instead of every 3...

Glad you’re home.  Rest up, that’s because of the stuff they use to keep you knocked out during the operation.  Usually takes a few days to wear off, until then you probably won’t feel like doing much.

Couple of other things I wish my doctor had told me...

Get some tight underpants, will keep pressure on effected area.

Frozen corn in bags works great as an ice pack

Swelling should go away in a couple of days and it’s normal for your sack to get really BIG before that happens.

Update:  I'm healing really well.  I can get around the place good enough with the mobile strap-to-the-calf piss purse- I use the big 2 liter one for sleeping and into the morning when I'm sitting.

I have 6 holes in me, one pretty decent (3-4 inches long), the rest are just slits.  The big one is still a little tender.

Never had ballzak swelling- things stayed pretty much the same down there.  For the first two days I looked like I was going to give birth in about three months though- some serious lower abdomen swelling.  That's mostly gone.

You guys who told me to get a bucket for the big bag:  WELL DONE!      That was brilliant, and works really well.

Catheter comes out tomorrow at 4, then I should be able to start walking, and then running.  Fishing should start next week I think, depending on what the doc says tomorrow.  Finally I will be LIVING again!    :bigok:

Thanks for all the thoughts, prayer, and advice- it really helped and that's one of the reasons I brought it up here.  You folks fock.
