camera drone
« on: May 05, 2020, 02:48:43 PM »
How expensive / practical it would be to buy a small (ie packable) drone w/ camera for taking pics / video of places I ride to?
I have no RC experience - easy to fly is a must.   And durability is a 2nd must.
Can I see the video on my phone?
What features do I want / need?

The Mavic Spark is everything you need, cheap for an autonomous drone. I can gather some pics my buddy took when we were in WV. Will post shortly. The thing is pretty impressive for being "just slightly better than entry level" in the (autonomous) drone world, and priced down on the scale of "the good stuff".

My buddy is a complete drone fanatic and has at least one in every size class, including about a dozen full race drones, etc., and his Spark is his goto choice for travel inclusion every time.

Here are some IMGUR links to the full sized images. I think. IMGUR is kinda weird. If these aren't full sized or high-rez enough, let me know and I'll get you direct links out of Apple Photos.

A lot of google hits are for DJI Spark.
Is that the same or a knock off?

It's the same.  DJI makes the most popular drones in use.  But they are a Chinese company so just make sure you line your helmet with tin foil while using it.   :tinfoil:

Hah, yeah, it's the same. The Mavic name comes and goes on various models, but they're made by DJI. I think they dropped Mavic from the Spark to set it apart from the Mavic Pro, etc.
