Automated dog toys?

Looking for a ball tosser that the dog can use to play with itself.  Problem is, most all of them I've found have mediocre or even poor ratings from buyers.  Anyone know of any consistently good ones?

I had a dog who played catch by himself when I was a kid.  He took his tennis ball to the top of the stairway and knocked it down the stairs.  He'd run down after it and repeat.  He'd do this until I came home from school.

  Most dogs are satisfied playing with themselves by just licking their balls. Yours must be high maintenance. ;)
