Pay Day Bars, USPS to Canada
« on: February 07, 2020, 12:02:39 PM »
OK my ST-O pals, here goes what is likely to be the strangest request you will get all day...

The humble Pay Day bar is hard to get here in the great frozen north.

Usually, when I ski in Ellicottville NY, I pick some up for a pal of mine, who is a fiend for Pay Days.

I will not be able to travel south before my flight on Tuesday, so...

Is anyone willing to pick some up at the Walmart, and ship them USPS?  I can pay via e-transfer. (USPS is required so I don't have to pay brokerage charges)

If this sounds just bizarre enough to pique your interest, let's talk via PM.

So, you want them sent to NY or to Canada, and before or after your ski trip?

I'm happy to help; let's nail down the details.

This would of course require Coffee Crisp and Hawkins Cheesies in return.....

You are absolutely correct, they are available.

It's the cost after shipping, and the possibility of Brokerage Charges applied by none USPS carriers that change the equation for me up here.

How astute LOL, my wife too. She loves the ketchup chips, I prefer salt and vinegar myself. We live in the US but both grew up in Canukistan and spend time in Vancouver and visit family on the Island a couple of times a year.

If I may digress, when we go up we always load up on chips and sweets we can't get here, crossing the border they always ask about ciggs, liquor and drugs, fresh fruit etc. If they ever checked our trunk they'd find half a tonne of chokkies and chips, tea bags and God knows what else LOL

Thank you, sir!

Now, I could "give a man a fish", and I likely will, but I will also "teach you to fish" with this youtube recipe for home made UK style Crunchie bars...

Yorkshire Gold or Typhoo. We drink Tetley's British Blend here, which is a good cuppa' but the Gold and Typhoo makes a nice treat

Thanks to all who offered to help!

I learned that a good friend was travelling to his USAddressinc box to do a pick up, and I managed to talk him into sourcing my Pay Days in Niagara Falls NY, as well as picking up some mountain bike tires on BOGO in Fonthill ON.

Three pounds of bars for <20 USD.

Nice!

When I do my dual-sport rides, I generally don't have time for lunch or I'm not anywhere near a lunch place. I always carry a Payday and find a nice spot to make it my lunch stop.

My sweetie is a Canuck and she gets Coffee Crisp in bulk on Amazon.  But I prefer this STO international exchange.
Call me Mel. Some years ago- never mind how long precisely- having little or no money in my purse, and nothing particular to interest me at home, I thought I would ride about a little and see the other parts of the world. It is a way I have of driving off the spleen and regulating the circulation.

I was already in and using Pixelmator, doing up some graphics assets for an app I'm working on, so that was a nice 10-minute respite from the drudgery. :D
