Saw "Dark Phoenix" for the first time. Interesting timeline adjustments but I liked the action.

The Invisible Man

It was your typical thriller type movie. Entertaining for the most part but, nothing special.

It was a good way to kill a couple of hours.

ZZ Top: That Little Ol' Band from Texas.  Documentary on Netflix.  Very enjoyable.  Other than a few minutes of Frank Beards drug addiction, there was no over the top drama. Just an interesting watch of how they came together and grew. Still love their music. If you have seen it, is it just me or does Frank Beard sound like Forest...Forest Gump.  ;D

I enjoyed Picard overall. Funny thing, though, I had the opposite opinion on eps 9 & 10. I felt they were a big letdown, especially after 7 & 8, which I felt were the peak of the season.

Yeah we watched that the other day, definitely worth a watch. Tom Hanks is a talented actor for sure. I watched one yesterday called "Outcast" with Nicholas Cage and Hayden Christiansen which I thought was surprisingly good.

Then of course there's the myriad Hallmark rom-com's my wife can't seem to get enough of, though to be fair some of them are pretty good.

6 Underground on Netflix. Good action film.

We watched that too. It looks like they set it up for sequels.

Could you tell it was directed by Michael Bay just from the action scenes?  I guessed partway in when there was an overwhelming sensation of "where's the giant robot cars?"

"The Siege of Jadotville" on Netflix.

It all comes down to the money in this movie. Human life doesn't mean shit. If half of what happens in this movie is actually true, these guy's are amazing.

https://www.netflix.com/title/80041653

Also watched "Spitfire, The plane that saved the world" Nice documentary on the famed plane and the pilots that flew them.

Both were interesting films.

Rented this thinking it was a modern variation of 70s Blackspoiltation movies. I was pleased that it was comedy and I LOL's many times.

The premise is that the main character is the same guy in that old Internet viral video about this guy.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BEtIoGQxqQs

They even recreate the exact scene in the movie, put in context of the guy's life before and after, then add in the nun chucks are magic and turn him into a pumped, martial arts master who can read and speak Japanese and more.

Very funny.

I have been binge watching Money Heist in Netflix.
Up to season 4. A well organized group pulling big heists. Drama, violence (but not USA style of gratuitous violence), sex, nudity.  Sort of the underdog taking on the government.

I give it a full bucket of corn

CB and I watched "The Departed" Saturday night. Some how we just hadn't seen it yet! I enjoyed it. One of our favorite podcasts uses several drops from the movie on their soundboard because the one host is a HUGE RAT. I chuckled when those scenes played out.

  • "There is a rat in your unit; that is a fact!"
  • "I got this rat...this gnawing, cheese eating, fucking rat."

My 7 YO niece is after me to watch "Onward" on Disney+. She watched it last weekend. Her official review is "I just have to tell you that I LOVED IT."

I'm still on my MCU chronology journey. Next up is "Black Panther." I really enjoyed "Dr. Strange" last week.
I used to make a bigger impression.

Currently, Jesus Christ Superstar (73)

I remember having the soundtrack back in the late 60s.

Last night I watched "Galaxy of Terror" (1981). A Roger Coreman production that, as usual, was crammed full of future stars and faded TV personalities (Joanie from Joanie Love Chachi, etc.). Typical Coreman principle photography-in-2-weeks and affordable video special effects. Foleys borrowed heavily from stock sound libraries. I could even hear the "Superman in Flight" sounds from the 50s TV show "The Adventures of Superman". Often those wind sounds drove up above the dialog; making it muddy.  Heavily influenced by "Alien" that was released 2 years before.

Still fun.

Made me dislike the Ford Corp even more for the way they treated Miles.

It's alright.  I've had time to get over it.

I really liked it, especially having been gooey eyed kid following those cars back then. Cool to see the grown up backstage.

You don't need to be a racing fan to like it, though. My wife has zero interest in anything involving internal combustion engines but really liked this one too. Just a good movie.

Watched Code 8 on Netflix last night. It's another "superpowered people as social outcasts" movie. Looked like it might have been a series pilot. Time killer, but there's so many better choices...

FINALLY watched "Black Panther" yesterday, which means "Thor: Ragnorok" is next in the chronology.

Not a movie, but "James May: Our Man in Japan" is worth a binge on Prime. We watched that Saturday night instead of that "One World Together at Home" dreck that aired on multiple channels.
I used to make a bigger impression.
