Re-watched the original Mad Max (1971). Man they were all younger back then.

Rewatching the first six seasons of Star Wars: The Clone Wars while the Season 7 Finale is wrapping up weekly episodes.

Every time I see it, I remember why Clone Wars remains canon. There was some incredible writing, voice talent and character development. Hell, there's more there to make sense of character changes and adversarial histories in the live action movies than existed in those movies. I still dig it. Probably the only thing I'll miss when I let Disney+ lapse after the free year. Fortunately, I think I have most of it squirreled away up til now...  :augie:

Watched "The Good Liar" last night. Huge Helen Mirren fan and this is one of the first movies that kept me on edge, not because of the action but because I could not tell where the movie was heading or who was lying to who. It started slow but I really enjoyed it.

A friend of mine surprised us with a random drop off of popcorn kernels and a “shareable size” bag of M&Ms. Therefore, last night became movie night. We watched The Avengers. Joss Whedon is a god among filmmakers.

Ultraviolet: I've seen it before but this time it was from a perspective of COVID-19. Oddly strange to see a future where the disease is so widespread that the entire culture changed to adapt to it being a part of daily life. Gave it an entirely different feel.

I watched a Russian film called "Tankers". Supposedly a true story of a single Soviet tank holding off a dozen or so Panzers during I assume the Kursk Salient battle. In Russian with English subtitles, Pretty entertaining.

Amazon Prime, it's a 2019 production so probably available on other channels too

Sheri and I really need to try this series out.  We got hooked and enjoyed Star Wars Rebels, which did include Ahsoka in several episodes.

Given the quick diversion to TV series, we finally broke down and subscribed to Netflix.  Stranger Things is one addictive and well done TV series.  I'd go on to say it's my favorite TV series of all time.

"Spectral" from 2016.  Pretty entertaining- military/horror/scifi type flick.  I enjoyed it, but I entertain easy these days.  Some ghost-like creatures come out and start killing soldiers in a war zone.  The military fights back.

"The Witcher"- (Netflix series)-  Fantasy series about a guy that kills monsters (The Witcher).  It's a bigger story about kingdoms, and mages, and such- I feel like they are trying to cash in on the end of Game of Thrones.  It has a similar feel.  It stars Henry Cavill (current superman).

"Altered Carbon" (Netflix series)- a very dystopian future where every person has a "stack", which is a disk mounted between the brain and spinal cord.  This device saves your consciousness when you die, so you can be transferred into a new body.  The rich have clones and just keep on living.  It VERY much has a "Blade Runner" feel to it and it is very well developed.  I watched season one and enjoyed it- it's pretty dark though.

Disney+ has all the Schoolhouse Rock episodes streaming. I watched the first of the ones on government (why we didn't want a king anymore). Seems this stuff should still be broadcast for free so more people will be reminded of what they didn't pay attention to in class (or which might not be taught any more).

Watched a couple of episodes of "The Man From U.N.C.L.E.". Very 60's camp. Their P38s (with bobbed, 2" bbls and M16-like birdcage flash hider stakes on the end) still look cool even if I do know they ruined P38s to make them.

Jojo Rabbit: Funny stuff!

Our Man Flint and In Like Flint: More 60s spy movies spoofing the successful Bond series. Campy over-the-top stuff like Flint talking to dolphins (actually vocalizing silly squeaks). As silly as this might sound, the story lines in the Flint movies (2) are stronger than in the Matt Helm movies (4). In order of quality (within each).

Derek Flint movies over Matt Helm movies. The MH movies definitely have that "Vegas stripper" vibe to all the women extras when the DF ones are more "Hollywood actress" with most having parts that are more than just jiggly (not to say either is without a very 60s vibe wrt women; very slap your secretary on the ass stuff).

Quality Priority (with the movie's place in each series in parens)
In Like Flint (2)
Our Man Flint (1)
The Wrecking Crew (4)
The Silencers (1)
Murderers Row (3)
The Ambushers (2) (they rushed this one to release the same year as #1 and it shows)

I’m looking forward to season 2. Right now it’s alright. I think it has potential to be very good.

If you have Netflix, do yourself a favor and watch the Dreamworks She Ra reboot. It’s excellent science fiction.

In fact, try out Voltron while you’re at it.

Are those reboots?

"Extraction"  Chris Helmsworth.  High action/ Military.  Reiterated the terrible cycle of war/crime/drug/gang syndicates.  Pretty good, but non-stop shoot 'em up like John Wick.

Yes, Dreamworks rebooted She-Ra, Voltron and made a fantastic Castlevania series, all on Netflix.

Apparently, Kevin Smith is doing the He-Man reboot next.

We've recently watched Ready or Not and laughed our asses off.

Then we watched The Hunt, which I thought would be an action drama.  Nope, its a social parody, and again we ended up laughing our assess off.

Have been watching Win the wilderness on Netflix. I would love to see them make a documentary on the couple who are giving away their estate. They seem like amazing people.

Watching Biker Boyz (2003).  Been playing on cable. Maybe the worst motorcycle theme movie ever.

FTFY

Watched The Old Guard on Netflix the other night. Charlize Theron as an immortal mercenary. Decent action and story. Left it wide open at the end for a sequel which i would watch.

Killing Gunther: Funny send up of action movies.
A Beautiful Day In The Neighborhood: Engrossing portrait of a man who spent his life listening to 1 person at a time. I found it very hard to watch but worth putting in the work.
The Old Guard: Enjoyed it.

I beg to differ. Check out any Roger Coreman bike flick and it will be worse.

I've been trying to watch Greyhound for the last few days. There doesn't seem to be any way to do it unless you have Apple OS, which I think is a crock. I'd be happy to pay Netfix or Prime money for it.

I watched Iron Sky a while back, about astronauts discovering a Nazi base on the moon. It's another one so crappy it's cool.

Incorrect. At most, TIED for worst with Torque (2004). <-------trailer

So many laws of motorcycle physics broken. Correction, SMASHED. Jump that streetbike (no ramp). Ride across the desert on a bike with no name. Dueling on motorcycles... using them as the weapons. Riding on a speeding train. Special appearances by Ice Cube, Dane Cook, Adam Scott , Jesse James, Jaime Presley, Zakk Wylde  and Jay Leno's friggen JET POWERED SPORTBIKE.

How bad? SO. TERRIBLY. HORRIBLY. BAD.     So bad it may just be good. With enough accellerant onboard.

Not movies but I've found these streaming series interesting.

Doom Patrol
The Order
Space Force
Umbrella Academy
Formula 1: Drive to Survive
Lost in Space
Altered Carbon
Blindspot
Stranger Things (still 1 more season to go)
Love, Death, and Robots
OA (ended but 2 seasons of a-typical story telling)
V Wars (2 seasons with at least 1 more on the way)
Medical Police

I watched the "USS Indianapolis: Men of Courage" the other day, what an absolute festering turd, Nicolas Cage looked like a bloated fool, the plot had so many stupid diversions I just about wore out the fast forward on the TV, and of course the obligatory "black stewards spitting in the officers food " scene. Is that the new "kool" message or something? Spike Lee used it in "Miracle at St. Anna" as well, though that at least was an otherwise decent movie.

Anyway, stupid movie, the sharks should have ate the film crew as well.

We just changed some things on our internet and cable systems.  Didn’t save any real money directly, but did pick up much faster internet (necessary for my wife’s job) and were able to eliminate some costs elsewhere.  Also picked up HBO Max as part of an upgrade to phone service.  Anyway, we now have seen some great movies from the comfort of home...

Ford v Ferrari.......excellent, two thumbs up 👍👍, have already watched it twice

and

The Art of Racing in the Rain.....which we actually saw in the theatre when it came out and loved it then.  Also read the book which is slightly different than the movie, but doesn’t take away from the movie in any way IMO
