I concur. Cake needs to stay out of pie's business! Cake should just concentrate on being cake, and let pie alone for those of who are pie centric. We don't need cake shoved down our throats.

I really dislike dessertist people who discriminate against either pie OR cake, but their bastardized half-pastery children are immoral and should be devoured immediately.

Then you don't have a problem with fruit and cake co-mingling? What then? Fruitcake for everyone? The state must uphold the separation of pie and cake!

Damit, I really hate it when people use logic to reduce my arguments to rants based solely on intolerance and hatred of things I don't like.

It looks as if I'll have to change my whole philosophy to one based on acceptance and inclusiveness. Dam you all to hell!!! But in a good, nice, peaceful way that won't offend or make anyone feel uncomfortable.

Fucking poorly implement Agile!

Company wants quick deployments, 'Agile' deployment.

The only problem is the environment in use by Development doesn't match Production. Neither does the QA environment.

So Development works on systems where they have full root access, wide open systems.

QA works with Development to install and make sure the new system works. They have access to the Developers and don't hesitate to contact them if something doesn't quite work as expected.

It comes over the wall to us in Operations and we try to install per the installation and requirements documentation. Of course things break, stuff's missing, and documentation makes assumptions. So we have to fucking chase down development folks who have been moved off to different projects and don't have time for us or engineers because the way systems work in production doesn't match what they "designed". So we have to engineer our part and the apps guys need to get with us in order to get missing stuff put in place.

Ahhh, so we finally have a mandate. Take over and manage the Lab environment. This way the Engineers build systems according to how things actually work in production.

Hmm, these systems are wide open, remote root access permitted, no user accounts so they log in as the application account names (like oracle), no password to become root. WTFF!!!

Okay, we need to change the environment. I'm tasked with logging in to these systems (breaking in in some cases because no one knows the root password), identifying what needs to be changed, and letting the Eng/Dev/QA folks know what the changes are.

Boo Hoo Hoo! We can't be Agille with all these Restrictions!

Well, in order to be Agile, the environments have to match. Otherwise things break and we have to spend time trying to get them to work. We want you to spend the time getting things working from the start. That's your fucking JOB!!!.

Boo Hoo Hoo!! Hey management, can we get an exception so we don't have to follow Security Policies so we can do our work quickly??

What the Fucking Fuck!!! You people are MORANS!

Fucking "Engineers" have no concept of best practices for a production environment.

(Because no one was watching one of their 'Agile' systems, it got hacked and sent, or tried to send, 7,000,000 e-mails over the course of a week. Now it's Boo Hoo Hoo! we want our server back.)

Carl

Now that's a rant. I don't understand everything he said, but it had a real rant feel to it. I could feel the rage, almost like I was there. Well done.

Shouldn't you be posting cuter than hell baby pics?

You don't have time to rant.

How is little Stormageddon-The Oncoming Storm anyways?

My manager is telling me to walk softly and the lab manager wants me to document the changes I intend to make.

So they can un-do your security changes and "get back to lazy-easy" ASAP (should you be fired - heaven forbid).
