Age 67, dead, brain cancer. Grrrrr.

Huge Rush fan, and fan of Peart in particular, in his drummer and song writer roles.

Saw them live several times in my younger years and took my Kids to see them in the 2000’s. My daughter wore a concert T-shirt from rush for years.

Read his books several times and it tore me up each time.

RIP Neil. Your artistry was appreciated and the fact you were a rider was icing on the cake.

Heard this yesterday on the radio when they first announced it. Kind of hit me hard for a moment. Rush was my first real concert as a teenager on the Moving Pictures tour. I was a huge fan after that and have been till this day. Loved their music especially Neil's drumming and lyrics. God Speed Neil. RIP

I was very sad to see this.  We saw their farewell tour in '15.  It was fantastic!

I've always like Rush.  But, after reading Ghost Rider, I couldn't believe how much I identify with Neil and his thought process.  I appreciate how Neil took it upon himself to avoid relying on drugs and avoid deep depression and even suicide by escaping on his bike.

He was a great drummer, excellent writer, student of his passions, libertarian, and a rider.    What's not to like?

NO words.  A bad night Friday after learning the news.  At age 12 my brother made me listen to King Crimson, Yes, Genesis, and RUSH.  The album 2112 sealed the deal for me.  I began drumming shortly there after.  Got my first kit at at 13 for 8th grade graduation and have been playing ever since.

In 2000 I bought the book Masked Rider.  I was an avid mountain biker/racer and was inthralled with Neil's telling of his Africa bicycle touring trip.

2005 I read Ghost rider.   I decided to buy my first motorcycle upon completion of that book. 2006 I got my motorcycle license and bought my first motorcycle.
I have often wondered if I would run into him on the road on my x country trips.

80,000 miles on two motorized wheels and I owe it all to Neil.

Cheers to Neil Peart.  A guy that loved life and made my life that much better for it.  Salud!!!

A million years ago I walked in to McBride Cycle in Toronto and bought a red K1200RS. A month later I found out it had been Neil’s bike. Turns out he preferred his GS so he sold it back to McBride. I rode it for a few years and had it on consignment back at McBride when they went belly up. Luckily it was sold and I got my money the day before the doors were locked.
The bike was a nightmare. I spent thousands trying to keep it working. I should have learned my lesson. I didn’t.
My GPS just told me to turn left, then turn left, then turn left, then turn left.
So if I go too far left do I end up right?

Thanks.  I just sold my Neil paperbacks on this site.  I just downloaded Ghost Rider.  That is the book that started it all for me and my love for motorcycle travel..... Maybe it will plant the seed again.
