Possibly meet at the Raider in Freeport, which is just south of where 799 hits 800?

According to BaseCamp, the Raider is 150 miles from home, so figure 3 hours. If I leave at 9am, that puts me there about Noon. Is the food any good there? I vaguely recall eating there once (maybe) a very long time ago. I figure the lazy start to the day will let any showers move through southern OH in the AM and hopefully the good roads will be dry in the afternoon.

Never been to the Raider, but the meet up location seemed ideal. I'll leave home around 9:30, which should get me to Freeport around noon.
If you and Garry don't mind I may try to join you for lunch, will attempt to be at the Raider by 12 or 12:30.
Running 39-164-9-22-800 to get there. Then back to 22-513-147-146-78-145-565-260-26. just a FYI , I have turned into a Sport- TOURING rider, I amble at a very relaxed pace as I have lost my taste for hammering twistys.

Sounds good. See you there.

You may see me there as well

I had a nice day today riding many of the usual suspects

I encountered a few temporary traffic lights controlling a single lane, but no real issues

Like Mike said, ride hard and stay safe. I'm a bit jacked up and unable to ride this far at this time. One of these years...

Got home around 6:30 PM.   467 Miles for the day.   1300 For the weekend.

No animals were harmed during this ride, and no riders got struck by lightning.

just got home.

Before heading for home, I rode a 550, 555, 636 loop.

I liked it so much I went and played on 26, 260N, where I harmed a small furry animal, and shortly after was struck by lightning.   8)

Just over 1,000 miles on the bike, and a little over 800 miles on the truck.

Another fine time!

Great weekend!

Wish I could have ridden more yesterday, but had some afternoon obligations so made it home around 2:00.

I'll go through the videos and hopefully post something later this week. Great seeing everyone and looking forward to the next event.

Here's a video from 555. The camera mount must have bumped a little closer to the bike, as the front rim is barely visible now. There also seems to be more vibration than on previous videos, but still a decent look.

Amazing how the video does so little justice to the elevation changes on the route.

I also figured I'd add some music, so here's another Radar Hill tune - Voyage.

I'm too late to make this suggestion for this year, but I am currently reading a book called The Pioneers, which is a historical recounting of the creation of Ohio Territory, and how the people settled the land, starting with Marietta. There is a lot of descriptions of places and (to me) it would be fun to hunt them down.

Maybe you can make a tag-o-rama for next year's meeting  8)

Hey ya’ll I’m home finally  ;D.  No seriously thanks for the ride, the company, and allowing me to hang out with you guys.  I can’t wait until the next ride, I hope someone puts something together in October.

Frank, I hope you found Deerwalk Highway.  It was 9 miles of awesomeness!

I missed Deerwalk - something about the name put me off - no, I caught your voicemail too late and went over 16.  I took this backroad through St. Mary's that would put 12 O'clock Knob road to shame, so I had some fun.  NEXT YEAR!

Trip Report

Left home Thursday morning for Davis WV.

Took the back way down.  PA 74 to 994 to 997 to Path Valley Rd and twisty 928.  Hey, I forgot to tell you guys, Berkeley Castle is for sale.  A cool $1mm+ collectively and we can ride MD 9 up and down back and forth all day long at our next meet.  Click the link and take a virtual tour.  I always wondered what that place looked like inside.  It always looked vacant and I assumed it was a wreak.  Apparently not.

This view on MD 9 (right after a run up a superb twisty piece) has always been one of my favorites.

Breakfast Friday morning was a treat, Oatmeal Crunch Bannana Dream French Toast, but I think the French designation was a misnomer.  This is classic West Viginia eats.  And of course, being West Virginia, it clouded up during breakfast.  It was such a light misty drizzle, I wasn’t going to put my rain gear on, but a wave of common sense overwhelmed me and good thing too.  Within an hour we were riding in a heavy downpour.  We were riding in West Virginia, of course.

The comic relief of the morning – from where I was sitting – came as we were riding through Philippi.  A dump truck coming the other way ran through a deep puddle and threw a wave over the top of Smoker.  For a scary moment, it looked like he was riding the curl on the North Shore of Hawaii, but fortunately, it didn't wipe him out.

I don’t know if anyone noticed while we were riding, but our 3 bikes together were red, white and blue.

244 miles for the day.  I rode a short loop aon Dalzell road after we arrived in Marietta.  Of course there was beer, in 3 different sizes and all.

Next morning started out fine with some great roller-coaster twisties.  Bill’s tire went flat during lunch, and you all know how that turned out.  It was a tube tire and we could not find the puncture point.  Fix-a-flat failed.  I suspect the tube might have stretched and tore during that spirited ride up 556, but regardless of how it happened, that tire was dead flat.  The ride back to the motel was somber and slow, so slow I almost felt like it was a funeral procession, and almost got passed by 2 guys on a Triumph.
174 miles for the day.

The situation back at the hotel had me wondering what kind of crowd Jack is hanging out with these days.

The ride home on Sunday was uneventful.  Only made 4 or 5 short stops.  The stock seat on the Versys is amazingly comfortable, although my @ss was sore for a few days afterward.  Passed a pretty scene in New Bloomfield.  467 miles in 10.5 hours on 2-lane except for that western stretch of US 50.

Update on my exhaust leak - Fixed! - Sort of... After using PB Blaster for a few day, I finally persuaded the exhaust pipe out of the rear head to loosen.  Very corroded. The far nut came off and the one closest to me - well, the stud came out of the head.  In the meantime, I had ordered a new exhaust gasket.  It was about 3/32, about the gap I had when folks a mile away said I had an exhaust leak!  ;D  Well anyway, it looked like I'd have to take my full Staintune system off to fit the new gasket (including the front cylinder!  :'() So I just put everything back without the gasket, tightened it up, and fired up the beast.  Well, fired up is a good description.  I did try to keep the PB Blaster off the heads - but we had a 2 alarm fire on our hands.  I got this! 100 mile later all is good! Isn't sport touring fun!!!
