The spec for rear wheel nut on the Multi is 230 N m. Had to get a big 1/2" air impact gun and just beat the thing off.

If that is what's needed to remove the rear wheel, shouldn't it be found in the Factory Tool Kit?  8)

You know I'll be carrying a 60mm socket in my luggage on trips, just in case...

I've learned to carry sufficient tools to work on most anything while on trips.  Nothing worse than having to wait for a tow truck.

I can think of many things worse than waiting for a tow truck.

5' breaker bar, 3/4" driver, socket that doubles as a mace head, leather tool pouch on a bandolier. I like it.

@Frank what are your plans for riding out to Marietta?

My plan is to meet in the parking lot.  That's about as far as I got.

More seriously, depending upon the weather, may leave Thursday.  (Or return Monday, but not both).  Otherwise leave Friday and return Sunday.  Saw where Smoker might lay up around Davis Thursday night.  That would suit me as a half-way point on the way out.  Otherwise I might do what I did last year and ride to Staunton Thursday and pretty much follow last year's route.  My Wee got traded-in so no dirt roads this year (and I won't miss the one that goes by the coal mine, that grime does not wash off).

But I have no plans yet.  I do have Marietta reservation for Fri & Sat.

More to follow.

I put new shoes on the Super Duke today. Still have to torque all the stuff down to spec, but it's rolling. It'd be great to get the suspension software updated and install the 16T (-1) sprocket up front too. Assuming the weather doesn't go to shit, I'm thinking a long Friday on WV16 is in order, a Hocking Hill loop on Saturday, and the Usual Suspects home on Sunday.

Jeets   Call me if you did not get my text.  Or call/PM me anyway.

I just booked Alpine Lodge in Davis for Thursday night.  Short walk down the street from where Smoker is staying.

Marietta is too far for me to do one day rides both Friday and Sunday.

Waiting to hear from Scott.

Yo JACK & All

Might pay to check your reservation.

Wyndham has what looks to me like some new specials posted on members rewards.
(Or maybe I missed one first time around.)

Either way, I was double-checking my reservation, re-booked and saved an additional $28.97.

That clinking sound you hear is beer money in my pocket.

Can we confirm the address of the Microtel in Marietta?  I just discovered I booked in the wrong town...correcting now.  It should be at 506 Pike Street in Marietta.

That is the correct address. As far as I know there is only one microtel in Marietta and only one Marietta OH. How did you book the wrong one?

Yeah...stupid me.  I was checking my route and realized the city of the hotel didn’t match.  I must have clicked on the wrong one when booking.  Dumb luck that I happened to check it today.

Lemme see, I put about 1400 miles on since I came back from Ohio last August, so we’re about even.

I have been in Spain, Portugal, France, Italy, Botswana and Namibia since then, so it’s not exactly like I Ben smitten on my arse at home.  I got a good excuse anyway. Dog ate my route maps. This Versys makes me want to get out and ride again, but there’s always something else that needs to be done.

Time to put all those worries aside and get out for a ride.

Anyone know if OH255 is open yet? What about OH9 near Armstrong Mills? Or of any other road closures of the Usual Suspects?

EDIT: Just found this great web site. Ohio is on it... You can zoom/move the map around and the list of closed roads on the left is updated. For me, the big closure is route 9 that connects 148 with 147. Might have to plan a different way there.

It's 9 south from 147 to 148 that I always use. I've come up with a Plan B to get to Marietta: (basically) 164-212-799-800-26 with a bit of 260 and 565 in there too.

That's my way home on Sunday. The forecast is drier on Sunday and traffic should be very light on 16 in the morning. I plan on heading east to Ellenboro, then down 16 to I-79, turn around and do it back north to Harrisville. Then figure out some way home. Maybe the usual suspects in SE Ohio. Maybe some stuff in WV.

The Super Duke is good to go. New tires finally mounted and everything torqued to spec.

So, does anyone need/want to split a room before I go and reserve one for myself? My son Chris can't make it. Kind of 11th hour here but was waiting until the bike was ready and the forecast looked OK and work wasn't going to eat my life...

Should have asked sooner.  Booked a single because I didn’t expect to split a room.

Some of the east side is nearly unrideable due to closures, fracking traffic or mud-gravel over the road from fracking traffic.

Here is my planned route (GPX and screenshot are attached) for Saturday. It's the same loop I did several years ago at our last ESTO in Marietta. 317 miles. I recall it being fairly pleasant with only a couple bits of highway to connect it all together. I have not checked it against ODOT road closures and have no clue what the pavement quality is on any of it this year.

NOTE: I just updated the GPX file at 10:15am after zooming way in and cleaning it up a bit.

If you look closely, there are arrows on the route in the screenshot. It takes the highway to the south end of 555 and then runs it north to 78. West on 78 for bit. Work our way to 33 and head to the west end of the Hocking Hills, then zig-zag north/south as you work your way east. Finish on 676 back into Marietta.

RE: Pace
I feel slow AF. No hair-on-fire/peg dragging for me. I had no confidence in the front, so my pace has been quite casual of late. The bike was handling like poo. I scrubbed in my new tires last night and it feels much better. Hopefully I suck less this weekend. If you want to get your lean on, I don't think I'm the guy to follow.

I have not checked it against ODOT road closures and have no clue what the pavement quality is on any of it this year.

NOTE: I just updated the GPX file at 10:15am after zooming way in and cleaning it up a bit.

While I had given a thought about attending, lack of xtra vac. time puts the kabosh to that... FYI:   Anyway, I noticed on your planned route, that you'll be passing thru Chesterhill..  If you're into nautical history, a short detour past the damn at Stockport (which is kinda neat also), making a left onto Rt.376 heading north for little more than a mile brings you to the cemetery where Captain Hook & his family are buried..Look for Brick Church Cemetery and Historical Marker..

I'll be heading down on Friday morning and it's only a few hour ride for me. If anyone else is down there early or also coming from the north I'm open for meeting for a late lunch and getting in a good ride in the afternoon.

Currently thinking I'll head towards Zanesville and work my way south then east from there.

Just wanted to stop in a remind y’all that you’re welcome to come over the Baymont Inn and hang out.  We’ve already got some MSTA’ers there for the week and many more of us will be heading that way today and tomorrow.  Pretty sure we could find y’all a cold drink or two....wink 😉....and maybe even a bite to eat.  😁

Personally, as a long time member of Net. .Org. and the MSTA I’m looking forward to seeing many familiar faces and hearing what everyone has been up to.

I will be heading northwest from Pittsburgh on Friday morning and passing through Lisbon probably about 10:30 (give or take, assuming I leave home at 9am). Then taking a mostly direct route to Marietta (164-212-799-800-26-260-26). I expect to be at the hotel by 5pm if not a bit earlier.

My initial thought was to come in from the west since it still seems like rain might be working it's way through Marietta Friday morning, but 800-26 is a great route. Either option beats I-77 the whole way, so I might head down 800 from New Philadelphia.

Possibly meet at the Raider in Freeport, which is just south of where 700 hits 800?

According to BaseCamp, the Raider is 150 miles from home, so figure 3 hours. If I leave at 9am, that puts me there about Noon. Is the food any good there? I vaguely recall eating there once (maybe) a very long time ago. I figure the lazy start to the day will let any showers move through southern OH in the AM and hopefully the good roads will be dry in the afternoon.

Got the route loaded.  I have no issue being in the “slow” group if need be.

Packed & ready to go tomorrow morning.

This rain should clear out of here by then.  Good thing, we needed some.

Never been to the Raider, but the meet up location seemed ideal. I'll leave home around 9:30, which should get me to Freeport around noon.

If you and Garry don't mind I may try to join you for lunch, will attempt to be at the Raider by 12 or 12:30.
Running 39-164-9-22-800 to get there. Then back to 22-513-147-146-78-145-565-260-26. just a FYI , I have turned into a Sport- TOURING rider, I amble at a very relaxed pace as I have lost my taste for hammering twistys.
