Ice Cube Spikes
« on: May 05, 2019, 06:09:23 PM »
I just moved to a new place 1/2 mile from my old place and I now have a full sized freezer.  I'm giddy with excitement.

Not as excited as my ice cubes, though:

What's up with that?  Are there some sciencey types here who can explain what happened?  Seriously, I just fill the tray and set it in the freezer.  Nothing above it, and just the shelf below it.

In moto news, I also have a full sized garage:

Call me Mel. Some years ago- never mind how long precisely- having little or no money in my purse, and nothing particular to interest me at home, I thought I would ride about a little and see the other parts of the world. It is a way I have of driving off the spleen and regulating the circulation.

I got those too at my new place and was dumbfounded how it happened.  Apparently got to do with my pure water from my reverse osmosis filter also happens if you use distilled water.

Those are cool.  I've never seen that, but the explanation makes sense!

Thanks!  I'm pulling filtered tap water from the same Brita filter I used at the old place. Haven't even changed the filter element.

I'll see if it continues.

My guess...condensation while reaching freezing temps.  Water dripping until it just formed a spike, but you’d think you see ice on the compartment ceiling.

OK, there's a lot of that going on.  Old freezer was fanless and the new one doesn't seem quite as cold.

Science!  W00t!
