Let the Forrest Gump-isms fly!
« on: January 11, 2014, 07:14:18 AM »
On a happy note, I was notified yesterday that I received the promotion I was hoping for at work.  I made Lieutenant and will be taking over a new platoon.  Sew on date is January 20th.  I've been a Sergeant for just over 8 years and am excited for the new challenges.

I hope no one needs me to explain the thread title.  As soon as the promotion list came out my phone lit up with them.  :D

How's your legs?

The right leg has a rod, 2 plates, and now 10 (was 11) screws from my wreck in 2011.  Left ankle still needs surgery, but I have been putting it off.  One of the texts I got last night was "and he even has magic legs!"

More like Effing mid-level management!  :D

Our rank structure:

Chief (1)
Assistant Chief (2)
Captain (5)
Lieutenant (4)
Sergeant (30)
Patrolman (163)

We used to have more lieutenants, but 2 of them got made into captains spots, and 2 were removed from the organizational chart.

Captain is administrative.  Sergeant & Lieutenant are tested positions.  4 of the 5 Captains have less time on the job then I do.

CONGRATS nonetheless.

But shouldn't you be captain on the shrimp boat?

Captain in the Navy is equal to a full Colonel in the other 3 branches. :D

And I'm not Forrest.  I'm Lieutenant Dan.   (Without the hookers)

Well done!
We had two bags of grass, 75 pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a saltshaker half-full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers... Also, a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether, and two dozen amyls. Not that we needed all that for the trip, but once you get locked into a serious drug collection, the tendency is to push it as far as you can.
