Extremely shitty, my heart goes out to you. I have a senior as well that has limited years and it is a sad though of not having him around.

But, I learned or re-learned, that women are crazy, emotional, judgmental, beautiful creatures. Love my wife to the ends of the earth and back, but dam, somedays I just don't understand!!

This is the first time I saw this. Rip Resa. It's so unfair that we outlive our best friends.

Yesterday, I learned that when you buy leathers online, buy what you are familiar with. I've had to send 2 different brands of pant back, and pay the shipping, cause they didn't fit. Yesterday, I received my new AGV pants to replace my old ones and they fit very well. I've been busy measuring myself and looking at fitting charts to no avail. These, I just used my jeans size.

Did some dirty riding with OU812 (Steve) at a private track at a friends house in Trever WI.

The track is in a wooded area  where the sun can't dry it out and with all the rain we've been getting the dirt was pretty moist Which make for some deep ruts.

Well in one straight I cross rutted and lost the front wheel and went down on my left side and slid on my side with the bike on top of me.

But at least it should be covered by our warranty and falls under a recall notice.  Yay!

I learned today that one of the most loved teachers at the high school my middle school feeds into was killed this morning.  He was riding his bike this morning and someone hit him- no details on the "why" part.  The high school allowed students to leave after making the announcement and brought in counselors and pastors for those kids that chose to stay.  Some of my former students came by in the afternoon- they were pretty devastated.  Sometimes it just sucks.  If you're the praying type pray for the school.  It's gonna be a tough spot for whoever takes over.  He was also our tax man, so I knew him in passing.

This is the kind of guy he was.  To promote the high school stage show, he had a drum off with one of my former students:

Happy memories- that's what these students have, so that's good.

Fascinating!

Medieval emoji

You are looking at a few pages from a late-twelfth-century Bible with quite exceptional fifteenth-century annotations in the lower margin (Pics 1-3). The additions, written in a lighter ink, are an early form of the “rebus”, a manner of writing where pictures represent (part of) words. They are found, for example, in graffiti on medieval walls. The scratched out message in Pic 4, found in the Lidgate Church in Suffolk, is directed at one Lady Catherine - it was decoded in the 1960s. “Well”, one clearly reads. Then follow the musical notes “fa”, “re”, “mi” and la” - note how the manuscript annotation in Pics 2-3 contain such notes as well. The letters “dy” are written next, followed by a dice (known then as a “cater”), and finally we read “yne”. In short, this 15th-century rebus reads “Well fare, mi lady Cateryne”. You can just imagine a visitor to the church scratch this love message in the wall, perhaps with the lady looking on, a few pillars away. What is striking to our modern eye, of course, is the close resemblance to ideograms and emoji, especially with the manuscript scribbles. As we still do now, the medieval writers tried to code a unique, secretive message with symbols broadly known to everybody.
