What bike for me?
« on: November 10, 2013, 08:18:01 PM »
So, I've recently been reading about riding, and I'm thinking about giving it a shot.  What bike would you recommend for a new rider?  I'm free weekends and evenings; that's when I take time off from my day job.  I'm not sure I'll have time for any big trips soon- my main gig is kind of a baby-sitter, and the kids are crazy lately.

A chromed out Hyabusa w/ an extended swingarm & a Nitrous bottle. Or a Ninja 250.

Scooter.  Preferably a Vespa.  They are great to start on, plus motorcyclists LOVE waving at them.   :)

You are going to hear a lot about ATGATT...nah, don't worry about it.  Tennis shoes and a t-shirt is really all you need.

Yep.  I'm a non-traditional motorcyclist.  One that doesn't ride- yet.  I'm looking at it though.  I recently found a spot with lots of info.  It's a pretty cool site.  That said, I hope this one does well too!

You sir are wrong. I am going to have to disagree w/ you this time. You need shorts & a tank top/wife beater. If you're a real bad ass you should wear flip flops because the laces from tennis shoes can get caught on stuff & that's dangerous. I still love you though.

Agreed.

If you're serious, you might be better off posting at "that other site", where people might actually respect the idea of you wanting a motorbike, instead of assuming that you're just pulling legs.

Are we supposed to be taking this seriously? I was rather assuming that this was NOT Dwayn.

Something like this?

Seems like a good deal.     I definitely want seating for two.   Is it a little small to tour on though?  Of course I'll start out in my neighborhood, maybe some country roads.

My first thought was a puppet...I suspected one person - they claim it's not them...

My second guess would be The Revenge of Neal.  (if only we had some dramatic music or something)

Or maybe it's Dwayn.

Hi Duane,

Hey, there's a guy named Bob right here in Region 1 that can probably help you get started right.  Just be sure to give us a ride report when you get back home with your milk and eggs.

Good luck.

I have read this whole thread and I would say,

You need a blue motorcycle.  That leaves a few choices: Yamaha's of course, some Suzukis and a few Triumphs.

Of course any bike can be modded to meet your needs and there are lots of bike painters in the world, but I think a stock blue bike is the ticket.
