I guess I'll put the knobblies on for this one.

Shil, are you paying attention?

The GPX file is a GPS "track". It's a standard file format for mapping type applications, so you should be able to go to a web site and then load that file to see where it goes.

Here is one example: http://www.gpsvisualizer.com/

Download the GPX file to your computer, then view it using that web site.

Just be sure to have your own tire pump this time.   :P

You will absolutely want aggressive tires for that loop, especially if it hasn't been dry. TKC80 land for sure.

I’m out due to a previously scheduled trip, that may include some glamping, but no riding for me.

I had never heard of this term till this thread. Yesterday I saw a motor home on the freeway with personalized plates that said "GLAMPING".

I'll be a game time decision on this and would like to make it. If I can make it I'll  bring the KLX in the back of the truck with the dirty wheels for one day's ride and the SM wheels for another.

Went to a small camping BMW rally last weekend.  A couple of fellas brought their bikes in an enclosed cargo trailer.  Then took the bikes out and set-up the nicest cots I've ever seen.  I like the idea of sleeping in one but not the idea of driving and pulling a trailer to a rally!

Guess I need one of these: https://youtu.be/Mg-Zygbnnko

Two of my brothers have bought various types of rigs from them over the years. Cool little company; I went there once or twice with each of them to shop and pick up their rigs. They make everything from empty cargo buckets to taj mahal lever campers in a small box.

Damn, guess we missed you there.

(though to be fair, we were at Yokum's store, and the restaurant for lunch, not over at the trails)

Wonder what that looks like?  The Little mc pop-up is well made but just lacks some pizzaz!

I've booked a room at Yokums.  I'll hang out w/ everyone at the campground in the evenings but sleep in a room with a bed.  :)

See you then.

Argh, I have a conflict for this weekend and won't be able to make it.

I booked this trip forgetting about my wife's trip to Wyoming with a friend.  Someone (me) needs to stay home with the mother-in-law who will have recently had back surgery and a 14 YO pup with thyroid cancer.  Frankly, the pup may not even make it that long.

I won't be having any fun, but my wife deserves this trip.  So, home it is for me.  :)

Touche'.  Frost is a concern from days gone by.  I have zero guilt tho.  Waking up in a sleeping bag in Korea w/ nothing but a nearly frostbitten nose sticking out and no shelter above followed by many many other tenting follies led me to a place in life where I have a thermostat instead of a thermal bag for heat regulation.  :)  If it's any consolation, I can have a hot breakfast and a coffee station available for a lucky few to spread the love a little.

Ok I'm in. But the old body ain't what it used to be so "sleeping" on the ground is out. I'm taking the toy hauler so I can walk after riding more than a couple of hours....
Looks like a buddy is joining me too. If you were there you might remember him doing an oil change in the motel parking lot a few years ago on another STN ride.

Now....I have to reserve a campsite... Website us giving me a hard time. ...
My GPS just told me to turn left, then turn left, then turn left, then turn left.
So if I go too far left do I end up right?

What size rig are we talking here?  A proper toy hauler or a 12' cargo trailer?  If big, try for 38.  It's not cheap cuz it's a paved "double" pull through.  This place isn't terribly friendly to big trailers.  36 would work also but you'll probably have to unhitch and put the truck beside the trailer.  It's sort of a double wide configuration.

Glad to see you are still around Richard   :bigok:
I remember the parking lot oil change. That was in Sparta many moons ago if I recall. I'm thinking it was an old beemer he was riding. That gets brought up all the time, the crazy Canadian changing his oil by flashlight in the dark parking lot.

The toy hauler is a 26'. It's a great rig. It was designed to sleep 10 people  (otherwise described as fools who think they can sleep 2 people on a 4' wide couch) We yanked out one of the fold down couches so the most we've had overnight is 6 people. But that leaves zero privacy. Come on over when we're there.
And yep it was the Great Sparta oil change. There are enough  Andrew stories to fill a book. "Is it a problem if you can see cord all the way around my rear tire?" "So is it a good idea to go into the 9th in New Orleans?" At night. Drunk.
"Sure go for it" Then at 3am ride back to Daytona at 100 mph without a headlight.
What could go wrong?

That's just a sample. ...

That sounds rad Dude

Quote from: Urban Dictionary
Sugar Grove
A small, run-down town in the rural area of Chicago. "In-Town" at the Rock Gap is where all the skaters think it's at. Has the worst roads to possibly imagine. Is populated with rich people who own some of the best houses in Illinois. The new Jewel is the main pride & attraction. Kids go to Kaneland. Isn't famous, for anything. But still beats Elburn neighboring town, aka "The Burn". It's nicknamed "The Grove" or "SG".

So the Sept 2018 issue of Rider magazine has an article on some of the roads around Seneca Falls and I now have a question. It sounds like 33 from Harman to Seneca Rocks might be difficult for a truck pulling a 26' 9000 pound trailer. Should I be looking at coming from the east? (50 to Winchester to 622 to 48 to 220 to 28)
What say you who know the area?
My GPS just told me to turn left, then turn left, then turn left, then turn left.
So if I go too far left do I end up right?

50 to 220 south to Petersburg then follow 28 south will be a lot easier pull than 33, 250 or 39.

Alternatively, 48 west (state rd 55) from I-81 turns into modern 4-lane around Wardensville and you could take that over to 220.
There are some fantastic elevated overpasses and no really steep grades.   Prolly a better run than 50.

50 west past Winchester to Gore, 259 South to 48 (corridor h) then 220 to 33.  259 is a steady climb from 50 for a bit but it is the lesser evil.  Some undulating hills but they're straight.

You don't want to pull 50 w past 259 and you don't want to come in to 48 on 55 from 81.  Those each have tight turns with their elevation changes. No bueno.

Sorry, 220 to 28 to Seneca Rocks then 33 for a short bit to the campground.

259 is a lovely drive.  Good choice.  Scenic with light traffic.  Good pavement but not best MC.  I rode it on last trip out to Ohio.

+1

Seneca is in a nice friendly section of 33. 33 has pockets of ungodly good moments with nice rural 2-lane highway between. Check it out on Google Maps; it's pretty obvious where you'd find trouble, and where the guys on bikes are going to be enjoying the ride.

You almost cannot go wrong no matter which way you come in there.  The area is just filled with some great roads.

Anyone have experience with Appalachian Cabins on 28. Aura and I are looking into coming down and thinking of staying there per availability of course. Also, what day is the dirty ride happening? If we come down, I'm trucking the KLX with SM and dirty wheels. Just wondering which ones i should have on first.

If its the place I'm thinking of on the river side,  I can't speak to the place specifically other than to say they have made a lot of growth and improvements in recent years.  At least some of it will be newer.  Good luck. Hope you can make it.
