Home safe. I had a great time despite breaking my rear shock. Scott and I did some awesome creek crossings on Thursday that I will never forget. I really enjoyed Garry's route on Friday, thanks for putting it together Garry. Bill and Kim's hospitality is unmatched, thank you folks for putting the meals together, it was super yummy. A special thanks to Ken for putting this all together.

I agree with vfrmike, Jimmy went above and beyond on this one. He put my bike in the back of his truck and put me in the front, then followed me home on his bike in the rain for 5 hours. I cannot thank you enough, Mike. I really love this community.

Pics to follow.

I thought about stopping at Brady's when  I saw the ford with the VFR in the back.

We're home safe too as one might expect from a 1.5 hour ride in the truck   :-[

Proximity afforded us the luxury of a slow and leisurely morning.  We had Peter and Dave over for breakfast again and we just sat and chatted under the awning like old ladies.  They won't be checking in for a while.  They left late.

A grand time was had by both of us.  Thanks to Ken for organizing, Smoker for leading the DS ride, Garry for the gpx file (whatever that is), and Aura for the delicious sides all the way from MI and all the help prepping and cleaning up.  And everyone else for tolerating my idiot dog, being gentlemen enough to keep my lovely wife interested in continued participation, and just being a stand up group of folks.

No surprise, we have some talented riders in the group as well.  That DS ride got a bit hairy a couple times and just when I thought I was doing something, I'd be reminded that I was following a Super Tenere and an 1190 Adventure and being followed by a guy who had never done this before and was making a solid debut.  :)  I had a really good time on that ride.

Dinner Saturday night was great.  Something about sitting around a nice campfire on a cool night with full bellies talkin' the talk about the various rides and experiences of the weekend that just feels right.  I really gotta get those multicolored LEDs.   8)

Really touched by the group donation to help offset some costs.  Totally unnecessary but I get it as I would have done the exact same thing were roles reversed.  Like Kim said, we'll put it in the piggy bank for the next one.  :)

Thanks to Ken for getting things going. Kim&Bill for your hospitality. The DS ridding was some of the best i had on the 1190 thanks to Smoker and the group . Hope to see you all on the next ride.

Meh...breakfast was ruined because there was no toast and Kim nearly beat smoker and scott to death because there was no chocolate but otherwise, it was OK.

Home safe and sound (if a bit damp).  Thanks to everyone who came out and helped make this a memorable event.  It was great catching up with old friends and making some new ones.

Bill and Kim put on a great spread for breakfast and dinner Saturday - very much appreciated.

VFRmike - thanks for introducing me to sippin' rum :)

What can I say about Mike/Jimmy and his assistance with Shane?  As soon as he heard about the bike his first reaction was "Where does Shane live?"  Next meet he gets a free box of Timbits!

I really had a great time (as usual) with this group, looking forward to the next event.  Pics to follow later.

Photo tip - if you're camping out in chilly weather don't bring only one battery for your camera and no charger :(.  Died first night, so just iPhone pics after that.

Really pissed I had to cancel. I spent the weekend thinking about what I was missing so I really hope that there's another opportunity to use my toy hauler to access the great roads of WV or NC or other states. Plus I have a 4 slice toaster.
Glad you all had fun and nobody else broke their ankle.
My GPS just told me to turn left, then turn left, then turn left, then turn left.
So if I go too far left do I end up right?

And this thread is why I love hanging with this group! Amazing folks all the way across the board. Jimmy, you da man! Drinks are on me next time we meet! Shane, damn sorry this happened but you were with the right crowd. Kim & Bill are awesome folks and honestly they were the ones that let me ride with them way back when I first joined st.n. Finer folks you will not meet. I hope to see all of you on the road soon!
Show up on time, do your best and don't grumble about the outcome.

Great weekend! Ken, thanks for setting this up. Was a pleasure to finally meet you. Kim and Bill, thankyou so much for all the effort you put into the tasty dinner. I haven't had three plates of anything in years. Good stuff!  :bigok: Kim, thankyou for inviting Aura down. She had a fantastic time with you and felt very welcome by the rest of the group. Jimmy! What can I say, you sir epitomize what we all should strive to be.  :bigok: Shane thanks for leading us on a wonderful adventure on Friday! You and Scott both amazed me running the pace you did on those beasts. Bravo. Glad you got the low rider home safe. I love this community!  :inlove:

So there are the five of us all dressed in proper riding gear, riding proper dual sport -adv bikes feeling great attacking the trails when we come around a corner and see this guy. He is wearing shorts, a half helmet and riding a cruiser.  talk about ego deflating. He has a Harley and other bikes but uses the cruiser as has dual sport to explore the fire roads. Very impressive. A few turns latter in the direction the cruiser came from Shane went down on some deep #3 stone that the cruiser would have just rode through.  :augie:

This was the first time I have had the KLX down on some actual twisty roads. I must say I was very happy with the results. Friday I ran with the 18/21 rims and knobbies for the dual sport ride which is what the bike is truly meant for so no surprise there. Saturday I ran it with the super moto wheels and sport bike tires. Man was this thing a blast to ride. She ran comfortably up to 70-75. Higher than that the rest of the group would have walked away from me. In the twisties, she had no problem hanging with the pack. So lite and flickable, what a pleasure to ride on roads like that. This was also my first time trucking down. I am a big fan of that as well now too. Thursday we left MI in the rain and we were nice and dry in the truck. Same for coming home Sunday, it rained from Seneca up to MD and we again were nice and warm and dry. I will be doing this again. No more brutal boring ride through northern OH and MI.

Thanks for the kind words, folks.

I believe any of us with the means and the time to help would do so, and I can prove it!

After Shane's mechanical, I was speaking with Scott about it; learning what happened.

Scott was willing to ride home that day, sleep at home, and come back to haul Shane's bike.  This would have resulted in the loss of riding time, and essentially end Scott's weekend away.

I tell ya what, I think that's something, right there.   8)

Peter and I got a late start after a leisurely, two hour breakfast with Kim and Bill and Hemi. Good company, good food. I always like green eggs and the bread was the best ever. Thank you very much!

With the breakfast delay, the rain was almost non-existent. We packed up the wet gear and got on the road getting dry roads within a couple hours. I was home by 7:30. Peter was feeling good and kept going to Toronto, another four hours. He made it before midnight.

WV always has something new to offer. This time it was Lost River State Park and Howard's Lick. Some lousy pavement but interesting road.

Another great weekend with you guys. Looking forward to the next one.

Dave

Great Weekend! A cool, wet and foggy start yesterday, but a beautiful sunny day by the time I was home.

Echoing previous comments, but worth repeating. Big thanks to Ken, Bill and Kim for your efforts. Also thanks to Smoker for showing me what aftermarket accessory not to buy... ;) Good luck with the repairs though, and hopefully I can make down early enough next time to join the off-road excursion.

Glad everyone arrived home safe. I had an uneventful ride home, arrived in the garage a few minutes after 11 pm. I wanted to post something to show my appreciation for being in the company of wonderful people. Hemi too, he's too cute! It's a privilege to have the means to participate. Just wanted to thank everyone for a wonderful time, I don't think I can add more to what's been said. Thank you for the pictures, very nice to see the DS ride and non bike time. Perhaps the only thing I might add is the disapointment because there was no chocolate. I would have brought some but I don't want to jeapordize my Nexus privilages.

Looks like you guys and gal had a great time. Wish I could have been there but I was in the UK for work and flew home on Saturday.

My plan is to ride every weekend in October and early November to try to make up for letting work eat my life / summer.

Sounds like you all had a good time...I'm glad.

I don't regret (too much) not going.  I had to recoup from my last trip and prepare for the next.

Not that I don't wish I had gone...I spent Friday taking care of some yard work (trimming back some tree limbs).  Mom got me to go an cut down FIVE trees while I was out with the chainsaw...while she supervised and critiqued my technique.  >:(

Not until they're awake.
It is known.

PS. All of their sinks are Hot/Cold/Molson (except in Quebec, those are Chaud/Froid/Vin).

Jimmy and I stopped at a harbor freight on the way home Sunday so he could pick up a wheel chock for his truck.
The cashier asked him about the new plastic money they're using in Canada.

Jimmy pulled a bill out of his wallet and said "If you scratch it right here it smells like maple syrup".

Dude believed him.
