Who wants to play this year? I'm still trying to get the second bookend.

We're two weeks out from Qatar. I noticed the game on the MotoGP.com site isn't up yet, but I think they got rolling last year about 1 week before the race. Shall we play the same one?

And -- yes -- we'll have the same trophy up for the winner. Can't find a pic at the moment, though...

Why Squeezer, thanks for that perfect setup giving me an excuse to post one of my favorite photos.

I'm back to defend my title.

Now, how do we drum up more interest?

Yes. It's easy!

1. Create an account at MotoGP.com if you don't have one. It's free. If, like me, you've bought their VideoPass thingie, use that login info.

2. Join the League. You'll find the link in a drop down menu when you set your cursor over your login name in the upper right hand corner. The game isn't operational yet.

3. Before each race, pick who you think will finish in places 1 through 15. To keep this from being TL;DR, I won't explain the scoring in detail. Just know that you get more points the better you pick. And picking the top places right gets you more points than guessing 15th place right.

4. One of us -- motociclista handled it last year -- will report on how we're doing after each race. Then we trash talk a little bit. Then the person who finishes first gets a cool trophy.

Once the game becomes operational, you'll be able to make your picks by clicking on the "play now" button under the "you haven't made selections yet" message. Then you'll get an e-mail confirming your selections. You can change your choices right up until (if I remember right) 20 minutes before the race. So you can even make last-minute adjustments because of weather, someone crashing in the morning warmup and breaking a collarbone, etc.

But where do you join the league?  They sure don't make this very clear.

Click on "more" directly underneath the top photo. Select "league" from the drop down menu. If you don't have a login you will have to create one. Once logged in you will be able to make your selections. (Once the league begins)

If you created a login, you're in. Now we just have to wait until the league becomes active. Probably this weekend or early next week.

Yes, you're in. As long as you're registered with the site, you can play.

This game doesn't allow us to set up our own league. Instead, one of us -- motociclista handled this most of the time last year -- goes through the results and posts how we're doing compared to each other. We'll have an official thread for that eventually.

And, yeah, they're a little short on that kind of info. We haven't really been able to find a good, free alternative, though.

I agree. That's fun.

I think when we were playing the motorcycleusa game (or wherever it was), we landed someone in the top ten in every game (including both MotoGP and WSBK games when they had both), and in their last year, we won it outright. In last year's much, much bigger MotoGP game, motociclista was 2nd overall. That was freakin' awesome.

So Ed's giving me a little too much credit and being humble at the same time. Actually, I wish I'd finished second overall, but actually I finished second worldwide for the weekend in the final round at Valencia, which clinched the EOE Cup for me. But Ed, aka Squeezer, aka Team HM Faceplant, tied for first place worldwide for the weekend in the Malaysia round, as shown in the graphic I captured:

In any case, we've represented well for ST.O. Team Motodog has also had some really strong results. (He's kinda like the Marc Marquez of the EOE Cup. He doesn't win every year, but he's always the odds-on favorite.)

On the home screen, put the cursor over your log in name in the upper right -- to get the same drop down menu that has "League"
Choose "My Profile"
Look for the block that says "Account Info" and click the edit button in the upper right.
Edit your "Nickname."  That becomes your log in name and your team name.

The league is up.
Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.

I'm loving the larger grid going for the Highly Coveted EOE Cup.

So everyone knows: You can change those picks up until race day. Not sure exactly what the cutoff is. I think motociclista mentioned above that it's around 30 minutes before race time.

Call me Mel. Some years ago- never mind how long precisely- having little or no money in my purse, and nothing particular to interest me at home, I thought I would ride about a little and see the other parts of the world. It is a way I have of driving off the spleen and regulating the circulation.

Don't y'all want to wait until qualifying is done?

you can adjust up top 20 min. before the race. I'm sure I will reconsider after qualifying.

I usually toss in early picks just in case something happens and I can't get them in on Saturday. Saved my bacon at least once last year.

That said, I haven't gotten around to it yet. Guess I can't say I'm too busy at this exact moment.    ;)

There will be did not finishers. And not just in back of the lead pack. Remember, you pick 15 places. Just picking all of the finishers at Doha is an exercise.

Good luck to all.
