Well, my year's done so the numbers are final, if far from record-setting: 14,197 miles on 10 different motorcycles. If you're interested in the details, read about my year in riding on my web site: http://www.theridesofar.com/2018/12/my-year-in-riding-2018/.

Happy 2019, everyone.

I had a terrible year. My worst by a huge margin. I've never been under 10K for a year and usually closer to 12K. I let work eat my life despite going on a shorter (36 hr) work week so that I could have Fridays off. THAT didn't work out. Between work and the weather, I hardly got out at all. I did manage a dual sport trip to Colorado in July and was hoping to ride a LOT in the fall once my Project From Hell shipped in September. Then I wrecked the 1190, broke my leg, and that was the end of the riding season (and the 1190).

But at least I finished the season riding and not sliding down PA 453 on my ass. I did get out for a short (< 1 hr) ride on the 530 around local back roads a few days ago.

Here is my report for the year:

KTM 1190 Adventure (RIP): 2786 miles
KTM  530 EXC: 1253 miles

TOTAL: 4,039

4K!!! 4 Fucking K!!! That's it. And about a third of those were on the dirt bike. At least I'm alive to ride another day/year and have a new bad ass bike in the garage waiting to be taken to all the cool roads. I will be planning an epic twisty fix of some sort for this summer in an attempt to ride every good road in WV/VA/NC/TN/KY/OH. Or something like that.

And I think I will be keeping a eye out for a killer deal on a leftover Husky 701 Enduro. Wifey said I could only buy one bike per year. The Super Duke arrived in 2018 :-)

2015 Yamaha FJ-09 - 24,760

2009 Suzuki DR650 - 14,615

2018 ending odometer readings:  35,577 on the FJ and 18,623 on the DR. So 10,817 miles ridden on the FJ and 4008 miles ridden on the DR for a total of 14,825.

It was strangely close to 2017 numbers which were 10,485 on the FJ and 4162 on the DR for a total of 14,647.

I did faithfully run it every weekend at the storage facility though.

OK, 4010 miles this year.  None since 29 June, when I got back from Montana.

The heads came off the bike a couple days later and my guy says they're nearly done.

Maybe a couple hundred more by the end of the year if I get the heads back.  Just enough to get to the retorque and then the bike will mostly hibernate while I play with the R100/7 that entered my world last week.

4080 is the final for 2018.
Call me Mel. Some years ago- never mind how long precisely- having little or no money in my purse, and nothing particular to interest me at home, I thought I would ride about a little and see the other parts of the world. It is a way I have of driving off the spleen and regulating the circulation.

I put about 1,800 miles on the Wolf 150 last year. Considering I didn't do any "trips", that was a lot of grocery store runs and light local sightseeing.

Other than a new battery, and replacing a bolt that disappeared, I had zero problems with my little Taiwan made grocery getter. Averaged somewhere just south of 80 mpg while doing it too....

Even though I am not currently in the same state as my motorcycle, I am starting at 26,179. Mid February I will begin to add more to that. This blows

Sad to report ending mileage was 28840.....2661 mileage for the year. It's interesting though, it feels like so many more miles than that. Maybe it's because I have used it as my daily transport everyday since OCT but I thought it would be higher.

Many trips, just not as many miles per trip.
