So back on topic, Ohio great, Stauton or Roanoke Va area out of town, yes better than slogging thru town to get to the roads.

Correct DD, I didn't take it as a whatever thread, if I was wrong then I am sorry for the comment. And I feel that seperate thread listing MTSA events and info would have better served everyone.

Once again then, I apologize.  When I get on any of these forums I just push the ‘unread’ link, and when I did that the title I saw was “2018 Events”.  I didn’t pay any attention to what section the thread was in and didn’t notice that it was in the STO EVENTS section.  My mistake, I’m sorry.  I’ll make sure to double check before doing any more postings.

i love how there was a MTSA commercial in the middle of this thread.

So what’s the problem? ...

My assumption of maddjack was that he assumed that this was now a specific STO meeting planning thread, since 99.9% of the comments went in that direction, not that he was dissing the MTSA post.

However, I'm not him and that's only my guess from over there

Now if those guys would just go start their own thread about their specific event, since it has already reached Epic Planning Stage....   :gerg:

Correct DD, I didn't take it as a whatever thread, if I was wrong then I am sorry for the comment. And I feel that separate thread listing MTSA events and info would have better served everyone.

As I said it Patmo's new thread, it seems that having an all-inclusive "Event Thread" would be more beneficial than having a few separate threads. There are few enough events (that I am aware of, anyway :) ) that having them all in one place to mention them seems like the easiest way. And once an event gains traction (like the WV/OH event), then a specific thread can be made for it and linked from the Event thread.

But hey, I won't be attending any of these, so sort it out as you please  :pope:  :bigok:

Depending on my situation next year, I'd be up for something either West Coast or Rockies. Hopefully I'll know better by next Spring.

looks like the Griso UK get together will be near Brecon in Wales in 2018, if anyone is remotely interested.

I'm interested in Wales, and meeting you, but the Griso UK part is irrelevant to me  :bigok:

Happy to avoid meeting a bunch of people with whom I have only one thing in common-owning a Griso.

Still confused by some of the stuff on this page...

Isn't that why we have the regional sections...? What am I missing?  :headscratch:

So, if there are non-STo events in your region, you should peruse that region. Or you can slog through every page in this thread if you are up for a ride and your region doesn't have it listed. Or, you could go the region that you might want to visit and see if there is anything listed. Or, if you have some vacation time to ride with, but you have no idea what direction you want to go, slog through every post in this thread. If you only want to attend STo events, there is a section for that. Or just check this thread, all the regions and the events section, because if you don't read (and remember) every post every time you log in it may not show as unread (especially as a reply) you may not notice you didn't read it. Simple, eh?

I'm basically never going to read a whole consolidated threat for events. Event per thread lets me find what I want. Is that really what's being discussed?

Anyway... I posted for a tech day here in region 6 couple months back.

No one showed from ST.N/.O, but I had a great turn out from posting it on Facebook.

Not all that complicated or difficult.

Anyway, someday, maybe next year, I'd love to fly & ride to WCRM; assuming it isn't rained out that year.

But for sure, next year I'd like to ride OHIO.  Maybe weekend of May 6?   Mother's Day is May 13.

In my perfect little world (which is really quite small), this thread would serve to merely list the events. Each post would be its separate event.

Discussions about specific events would be hosted on their own thread, probably in either the region or (more appropriately), the ST.O Rallies & Meets thread. Which is where this is currently located.  8)

This seems more like a thread for people to discuss (bitch) about upcoming (yet unplanned) events, but nobody actually stepping up to plan any events.   ;)

Can I make one other suggestion?   Once an event has been decided or you know of one that's been scheduled;  this message board has another state of the art feature called a <wait for it>  CALENDAR.   While it's great an all to show everybody's birthdays,  I submit it could be useful for other purposes too eh?

I believe if someone wants to start a thread to make us aware of a meet or event when it's not an "official" STO event, I'd post it under ST.O Rallies & Meets.

There are too many states which border regions and I would hate to miss out on an event in a neighboring region that I could attend.

Sure, I'm a "Unread" crack button person, but I miss things or can't always remember where I saw the thread.

That's my $0.02 (or 1 pence or 0.03 CAD or 0.02 Swiss Francs).

Hate to suggest more topics but the existing official STO events works for that stuff.
Unofficial events, especially overnights, camp-outs, etc. Should be in one place.
So at least I can see what's coming up at a glance and then see all the pics afterwards.
You could probably get rid of half the other topics and I wouldn't even notice! Flame away
